yes, it opens tonight. this review is out very early. glad it's a rave though. this show is fabulous. hope all the other reviews are as positive!
I saw it last night, and have been singing the songs all day.
I'd forgotten how much fun it is.
And, Kelli O'Hara proves she can do anything!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Addy! And yes, Kelli is stunning as Babe Williams.
I have heard from many many people - both on the boards, my friends, and friends in the theatre profession that it's just amazing. I hope it truly is, and I can't wait to see it.
It's a 'dated' show, but it's charming. And the performances are just so energetic and enjoyable.
A good old-fashioned fun night of theatre.
I'd like to see it again.
(I did the show in high school...the songs are so memorable!)
i did the show in my junior year of high school (march 1999), which is probably why i love it so much.
Kelli really can do anything. There is a group of new actresses such as Kelli, Lisa Brescia, Megan Hilty, Jennifer Hope Wills, i think we are lucky to have these talented young girls coming to Broadway.
I'm so happy that Megan Lawrence is getting good notices for her performance.
I love how in every scene in the video your eyes go straight to Jennifer Cody. She is just a tiny bundle of energy and pizzaz.

I saw the show back in January. It's really wonderful. It's deifinately "dated", but therein lies the charm.
Megan Lawrence steals the show, but it's good performances all around.
Ditto, WithoutATrace...I was hines my junior year of high school.
hahhahaha i LOVE this show, good to see a good review.
Great review. I hope this show does well. I love Kelli and she really works hard in everything she does.
Broadway.com's review is up and it is very mixed. (But some of his observations are completely false and odd.)
Won't matter. The Times is pretty much a rave.

How would you know Smaxie? The review isn't on the website yet.
It's not up yet. But Brantley calls the production a "delicious reinvention" by Kathleen Marshall, and raves in particular for Connick and O'Hara, calling them "the hottest couple in the New York theater".

Here we go....he loves it!
"Ms. O'Hara and Mr. Connick, on the other hand, pulse with an immediacy that makes them, hands down, the hottest couple in the New York theater. (I suppose, if you're kinky, you could make a case for the erotic appeal of Michael Cerveris and Patti LuPone in "Sweeney Todd," but I'd rather not hear about it.) Ms. O'Hara — who in the past has been required to be little more than sad, pretty and passive ("Piazza," "Dracula," "Sweet Smell of Success") — expertly trades in her silvery soprano for a touch of brass. Her Babe is brisk, bright and unconditionally alluring, even (or perhaps especially) when she turns on the deep freeze. With this show, she becomes a full-fledged musical star."

Right. Like Kathleen Marshall is capable of "reinvention." It's a by-the-numbers revival, period. And Brantley is such a TQ.

See? Everything.
Hey Ella Enchanted, stop stating your opinion as fact. I'm not the biggest Marshall fan either, but their a smarter ways of stating your opinion without sounding like a complete ass.
