What would you say is the best performance ever done at the Tony Awards?

The first performance that comes to mind is Brent Barrett and Michael Jeter from GRAND HOTEL.
Jennifer Holiday as Effie White in Dreamgirls.
Ditto Jennifer Holiday. I can still watch that one today and be shaken by it.

I missed this at the Tony's, but what did Michael Jeter talk about in his acceptance speech, I only saw the end of that segment, thanks!

I'm not sure about the best performance EVER, but Bernadette Peters' Gypsy performance was amazing.
Not far behind her would probably be WICKED's performance.
just kidding.

Of those I've seen, Bernadette Peters' "Rose's Turn." Absolutely awesome!
A New Argentina w/ Patti. Chills every time.

Brian Stokes Mitchell sang the song The impossible dream in the 2003 Tony Award and he was GREAT! He got a standing ovation...and no Tony...
* Ragtime
* Kiss of the Spider-woman
* Dreamgirls
The Impossible Dream performed by Brian Stokes Mitchell
And I'm Telling You... performed by Jennifer Holliday
The performance for Ragtime
Cheers,
Christopher
I have to say that while Bernadette was great, Jennifer Holliday was beayond spectacular. Her performance from Dreamgirls gets my vote.

He basically said that if anyone out there had any problems with alcohol or drugs, they should look at him as proof that they can kick their habits and that dreams can come true. Twas cool.

I saw a short clip of "Evita" with Patti LuPone from the 1980 Tony's..does anyone know where I can get the video? or Mp3 of the performance?
I actually have that performance (Evita) on Broadway's Lost Treasures DVD: Volume 1. It has many other great performances from the Tony Awards too. I also love The King and I, 42nd Street, and Cabaret's performances too on the DVD.

I think WICKED's Tony perf was terrible, and I never liked Ragtime's for some reason.
LOOOOVE APPLAUSE's title song at the Tony's. It was so long! And now we give nominated shows three minutes. Oy.

My Body from THE LIFE was pretty brilliant.
Two of the best ever Tony Award performances were given by the same woman.
The one and only and still sorely missed Dorothy Loudon.
Tearing up the stage with "Broadway Baby" in the Stephen Sondheim tribute in 1984 and the obscure George Gershwin song "Vodka" the year that they re-named the Uris theater.
