I have it all ready to go for later tonight :)
I have the movie, but I never seem to have time to watch it, so I just listen to the cast recording in my car.

This is actually something that has never really occured to me. Cool idea!
At the very least I do that -- I haven't gotten around to the movie every year (I remember one year having it on my walkman - it was a while ago - as we waited for the fireworks to begin).

for the past 10 yrs =)
that's a great idea...i don't have a copy of the actual movie, but i have a dvd of the production that i was in.
I do!!! It's a tradition for me.
And if I'm nowhere near a vhs/dvd player, I have a couple of different cast albums I listen to!

do it almost every year! A friend used to have an yearly showing on the big screen in his house..he had an old airline print of the film...huge one reeler! I just did had the revival cd on in my car!
me too
so glad i saw it,
I don't own it, but I've seen the movie and a stage version (at Ford's Theatre) and since last year I've made a tradition of listening to it. My family isn't big on crowded fireworks sights, so it's the least I can do. So glad to hear someone else does it as well.

I'm glad you reminded me. I really enjoy the DVD version with the added material. I also try to listen to the CD's of the show and my cassette of the soundtrack. (I don't think it ever came out on CD.)
We've been watching it each year, since I purchased the laserdisc (the only complete version), in 1992.

I'm watching it at midnight! I'm excited .
I would if I had my copy of it still.
Lacking it, I watch "Yankee Doodle Dandy" with lots of iced tea and popcorn with real butter.

I was planning on it, as I did for a couple years, but then today I went to Blockbuster and remembered that as of some time before last 4th that our local Blockbuster no longer carries it. Don't know why, but ever since they rearanged the store they haven't had 1776. I do plan on ordering the DVD online within the next day or two, but that obviously won't make it in time. I have been listening to the OBCR the last few days, however.
Slightly off-topic, but I now do plan on watching The Music Man to fill the void (plus it's great, too)!

Jasonf, thank you for this thread!!!Seriously, I love this board. You all make me feel normal for equating everything to a musical. Happy Fourth!!

Sit down, Joe(Kv99)!
Forget my previous post, I just realised what day it is for you.
Is it on TV in the NY area? If so when????
I have it on right now! Caesar Rodney's just about to go home.
I LOVE this movie!
I watch it every year. I have a copy from the laserdick with all the deleted scens put back in, especially, "Cool, Cool Men" which becomes an amazing goosestepping march at the end. Fantastic.
BTW, I have come to the conclusion that one useless man
becomes a critic,
Two or more become a producing partnership,
And three or more form a forum.
And by God, I love this forum....
