So Jason and I were listening to SA again on the way to the train station and we were talking how great it would be to have rock stars do a concert of the songs.

So if you could pick any rock stars to do the songs, what would they be and which songs? Some of my choices

Totally F*CKed-Green Day
Mama Who Bore Me-Gwen Stefani (she could do more than just this one)
The Bitch of Living- Ben Folds
Touch Me-REM

What do you think?

Fiona Apple should sing everything Lauren Pritchard does.

(And vice versa.)

If Gwen Stefani ever did Mama Who Bore Me, I would shoot someone.

Wow, a little over dramatic there? I think she'd actually do a pretty cool cover of the song. Would it be a purists version? No, but it would work...

Fiona Apple would be great too! I think it would sound really cool as a benefit concert!

I like it.

But shouldn't Green Day also sing The Bitch of Living?

I never thought of it, but a Ben Folds version of Bitch of Living or..any of the songs would be amazing.

...but then again, I think Ben could do anything and it'd be amazing.

Ben Folds is awesome - Bitch of Living is RIGHT up his alley. Totally F*CKed would be good for Greenday - though I liked Barenaked Ladies for it better. I think Greenday would end up doing a ten minute "blah blah" arena chant...

I wouldn't like to hear Gwen Stefani sing anything.

Ooh, another Ted Leo fan. re: Rock Star Spring Awakening Anyway, surprisingly I agree with almost all of the suggestions except for Green Day for Totally F*CKed.

Ben Folds should sing 'Left Behind'.

Barenaked Ladies should sing 'Totally F****'

Green Day SHOULD sing 'Bitch of Living'

Fiona Apple for 'Blue Wind' and 'Song of Purple Summer' would be incredible.

I'll think on some more.

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists are fantastic! And I definitely agree that Ted is quite cute :). I think he has the perfect rock voice - it really doesn't get on anyone's nerves.

I think Wilco would do a good Mirror Blue Night.

I initially thought this had something to do with the TV show, Rock Star. I concur with the Fiona Apple stuff. I'd love to hear The Cranberries do Song of Purple Summer.

parislover, do you mean The Word of Your Body Reprise?

Ben Folds singing "Left Behind" and "Bitch of Living" would be great. After hearing him cover Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't SH*T" (check it out at www.myspace.com/benfolds, it's awesome) I'm thinking he can cover just about anything.

You will all disagree with me, which is why I am posting this.

In a completely morbid way, I want to hear Marilyn Manson perform WORD OF YOUR BODY.

He's not a rocker, but he's done his fair share of rock songs.

Ben Folds and Rufus Wainwright doing "The Word of Your Body (Reprise)" would be fantastic, actually. After their "Careless Whisper" cover, I'd listen to them sing any duet together.
