I'm glad that Plimpton finally received some recognition. Hers was the only female performance that really made an impression on me in UTOPIA.
I'm also surprised that an ensemble award was not given to JOURNEY'S END. That group of actors are a top notch ensemble in every sense of the word, in my opinion.

i know that this is gonna make me sound like an idiot teeny bopper fan but frankly I don't give a s**t
F**K YEAH LEA MICHELE GOT NOMINATED!!!!!
I'm sooo happy for the Spring cast! This is wonderful and while I might be dissapointed come May for the Tony nods I'm gonna celebrate this while I can!!
RIP Natasha Richardson. ~You were a light on this earth ~
I agree with the no lighting for spring awakening.... They must have had their eyes closed, LOL.
And I'm very very happy for In The Heights. It really was one of the best shows I've seen this year...... Everyone should go check it out! Its well worth the money and the to 37th and 9th
I doubt it. I don't think it'd too well in a larger theater, nor do I think it has enough buzz, but anything is possible.
I have a question. What are the awards where they nominate a bunch of people from the season and then just give the award to one person? Is that Drama Desk? I know Norbert one it during his year.
Rent Boy that is Drama Leauge here are the people vying for that:
F. Murray Abraham — The Jew of Malta, The Merchant of Venice Heidi Armbruster — Tea and Sympathy Christine Baranski — Regrets Only Gary Beach — Les Misérables Daniel Beaty — Emergence-See! I am absolutely thrilled for Orfeh! She deserves every bit of the recognition she's received lately and I wish her continued success to come. As many have already said, a lot of these nominations will not be in the same categories come Tony time. My personal WTF moment is Heather Hach for Blonde's book. Truly terrible when not directly lifted from the movie. Excited for SA.
"What pisses me off is that Meryl Streep got a nomination, in my opinion, because she's Meryl Streep, and Kevin Spacey got a nomination because he's Kevin Spacey. Streep's performance in MOTHER COURAGE was tired. Spacey brings nothing new to MISBEGOTTEN in his performance. In fact, he hinders the production, in my opinion. I would have given his slot to Hugh Dancy in a heartbeat."
WannaBe, I disagree on almost all counts with you here. Meryl Streep was FAR from giving a tired performance in Mother Courage in the park this past summer. She was incredible IMO, and I'm just glad they remembered how amazing she was. I haven't seen Spacey in Moon, so I can't speak on that, but if I agreed with your statement, I still would give his slot to Stark Sands before I would give it to Hugh Dancy
"If you've got something to say, say it, and think well of yourself while you're learning to say it better." - David Mamet
What would McMartin be nom'd for? He was last year for Grey Gardens.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
I'm going to predict the Tonys will look alot different come nomination time. Some of these are just mixed up and there's 1,000 entires per category. YEAH ORFEH! That's really great news as is all the Spring Awakening love but I also can't believe the BOOK of Legally blonde got one. IMO, that's the single weakest link in the show. Again, just as we said about the DD's following the OCC's, the Tonys are going to be very different.
I'm thrilled that LOVEMUSIK got the most nominations. When I saw COMPANY I thought Heather Laws will be getting at least nominated for all kinds of awards and she has been overlooked by everyone...I wonder if it's going to be like Manoel Felciano getting overlooked by all awards but the Tonys last season. I thought she gave a more fascinating performance than Esparza himself (who was brilliant of course but that's how good Laws was, IMO). No Jason Danieley for Featured which seems unfair, but perhaps Gavin Lee grabbed his spot--he'll be leading for Tony purposes. I don't get why OCC and Drama Desk have both nominated Ashley Brown, it just baffles me. And how about LES MISERABLES over A CHORUS LINE for best revival? Crrraaazy.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
I must say, I'm upset Heather Laws hasn't been nominated. If I had to award only one of the COMPANY ladies, I'd take her over Walsh any day (although I loved Walsh too).
I also find it surprising and interesting that Jonathan Gallagher is considered a lead while Gavin Lee is featured. I know Bert's not that big a role, but I'd still push it as leading.
Am SO happy Celia got nominated! I hate to sound like a fangirl, but I loooooved her Eponine. I don't expect her to win, but it's nice to see a nomination. :3
Maybe Curtains wasn't Rob Ashford's absolute *best*, as some have said, but the choreography was still a lot of fun, great for the show, and, I think, more deserving than half of those nominees.
"I just want a story and a few good songs that will take me away. I just want to be entertained. I mean, isn't that the point?"
YEAH LEGALLY BLONDE! I am especially happy for Christian Borle -- I was worried he wouldn't get a lot of recognition for this, but it looks like I didn't need to be. And of course, lots of love for LBB and Orfeh. Props to all of them.
And I'm doing the Happy Dance Of Joy that Larry O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin snagged music and lyrics noms.
So, yay for those. Also, Raul for Company was a given, and if he does not win, there is something seriously wrong.
Linda Balgord for PQ, though? She was fine, if a bit over-the-top, but I really thought Stephanie Block deserved some recognition for carrying that whole show, even though the material she had to work with was... iffy, at best. And come on, the choreography for that show was pretty damn cool.

Dear Ken,
I'm in pieces. Why the cold shoulder?
Love,
Barbie
Balgord is terrific and deserves her nom. I think Block and Fraser should have been included also. (she is better than Cheno was, and at least as good as Bundy Michelle) For me the two biggest missing noms are Daniele and Bress's Choreography for PQ and the most glorious Costume Design in New York right now: Martin Pakledinaz also for PQ. Even the show's nay sayers admired the Costumes. I also think A CHORUS LINE should be included. (THE APPLE TREE????) Updated On: 4/26/07 at 01:17 PM
