Anyone have tips on getting cheaper tix to NY City Center's GYPSY? I've never seen a show there before.
Also - are there any seats NOT to take?
The rear mezz and galleries are only $25.
The rear gallery is very high and obstructed.
How are the rear mezz seats? Has anyone sat there?
Yes, the place is huge and beautiful, however, truth be told, the cheap seats are VERY high, you can see, but I'd say it's comparable to the balc. of the Palace. You can always bring binocs...
Yes. Binocs are a MUST for the rear gallery.
What about Orch row Q or L? I might shell out big bux for this one...
The distance from Rear Gallery to the stage is akin to viewing people as they walk around the city from when you're up in an airplane.
Only you'll probably have more of a full view from the airplane.
Are mid mezz good seats? Row D?
I hope mid mezz is good - that's where I'll be sitting.
That's where we're sitting...bringing binocs.
Your choice depends on how picky you are about the "experience".
If youv'e never seen this show before, I'd try something closer, if available..

I have 2 seats in the 2nd row of the Orchestra Pit section in the center, to the first show July 9th @ 7PM if anyone wants to buy them from me for face value, I am going to be out of town =( and need to get rid of them =(...they are amazing seats as I bought them right when they went on sale. Please contact me if interested!
I've only sat in the Rear Mezz and Rear Gallery and both were extremely far away and partially obstructed. But with binoculars, it should be easier.
I'm going to be in the Orchestra Pit this time, so I guess I'll get a different perspective.
Just be aware that City Center as a space is enormous.
Well the mid-mezzanine tickets are only around 50 dollars as I recall.
Speaking of which I have tickets for Mid-Mezzanine Row E, does anyone know how the view is from there? I'm hoping that it's not too faraway...
The only seats in City Center that I have ever been satistied with were in the front section of the first mezzanine. I believe I was in the third row, and they were fantastic. I prefer them to anything in the orchestra section.
For BYE BYE BIRDIE, I was in one of the upper tiers...it was so far away, so painful (and the show was so bad) that I ran for my life at intermission. Be warned.
I have rear mezz seats.
I've had ****ty seats before.
I deal.
I can't wait for the show. Just being there is enough for me.
Coastal,
Would you be willing to sell only one of those tickets?
Already bought coastal's tickets ()
have tickets for july 9th... but they're Rear Mezzanine, Row A Center--- will I be able to see anything?
Will they be doing any sort of rush?
I've never heard of City Center doing a rush, so I'd guess not.
I have tix for the orchestra pit, first preview... subsequent viewings will be in the rear balcony, I'm afraid, with binocs.
What about front row of the gallary? I don't expect a good view for $25, but is it bearable?
I sat in the front gallery for STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN and the view was just fine...I was actually able to see facial expressions without using binoculars. They are $25 for GYPSY and if you can get them, I would pounce.
I've enjoyed the front gallery as its usually where I sit for Encores stuff. Sometimes there's a bit of a bar in the way and I always remember to bring my opera glasses, but the sound quality is good and I never leave feeling like it wasn't worth it.
That rear mezz is vile though, its like being in a cave.

I saw Wonderful Town from the gallery and it was just fine, especially considering my tix were $12.50 at TKTS. If I were in NYC I would definitely buy the $25 front gallery tix.

My Encores subscription seats are row A in the front gallery and they are fine. That is where we plan to see Gypsy. They're $25. How cheap can you get?
Good God, we'll be able to look right down Lupone's throat and see if she still has her tonsils.
I have to go lie down now.
