I don't think either.
Why don't we wait until both shows actually get the chance to open and get reviewed before we start predicting?
And they can both be big hits.
That really is a terrifying thought, isn't it?
What? Wait until we see a show before passing judgment? Whatchootalkinbout, Wizard?

Both! Its Alive! (Broadway that is) and its open and kicking or swimming in Mermaids case. Doommongers be gone.
Those are actually the two shows I'm interested in seeing next spring. I'm going to wait and see how they are received before I get my seats.

Since this question is theoretical and just a whim..i'm going to play along and say that Frankenstein will be the bigger hit.
i don't care much for reviewers...and i don't depend on what they say. There's no way someone else can decide for me what to watch and what not to watch.
but my cards are on Frankenstein just because of the magic that Producers created with Brooks/Susan S. and that AMAZING cast !!!!
and the money and etc etc.....
Disney to me is soooo washed out. I hated Disney as a kid..i felt they always destroyed the true stories of the classics of Cinderella, snow white..etc. they fluff everything out and make everything so 'happy'..when in reality its not.
and Tarzan and Mary Poopins have been true 'clunkers' for me..didn't enjoy them at all.
so i'm placing bets on Frankenstein. out of the two.
BUT I DO HOPE there's bETTER coming on its way out there.
Neither. EQUUS.
...or GREASE
Something else will come in and surprise- be a bigger hit.
it's going to be "idol the musical"...........seriously.
No brainer, if it's between YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN and THE LITTLE MERMAID.
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN stands alone.
I think THE LITTLE MERMAID will get the same reception that TARZAN and MARY POPPINS garnered -- lackluster reception.

hey Captn have you done a proper post on the Rosie DVD -fantastic idea and i think it'll get done
i also think that FRANKENSTEIN will do better than MERMAID
i have nothing to back it up with, but im just assuming.
MERMAID might do well, but i dont see it selling out or anything.
Wicked63, the Rosie/DVD petition is years old, and Rosie told me it's happening. Look for Season 1 in 2008 - MAYBE even Fall 2007!!!.

Young Frankenstein. I think Disney On Broadway is on the downswing.

I think Young Frankenstein will be the big hit of this season and will probably get Best Musical at the Tonys.

I just hope for Mel Brooks sake that Young Frankenstein is a hit. For the prices hes charging, he's gonna look like a smacked ass if it isn't!
i'm thinking Sunday In the Park With George

Joke!
i hope broadway continues what Grey Gardens and Spring Awakening did, and we get more interesting new works that have come from off-b'way.
What about A Catered Affair?
Both will be huge hits. Frankenstein will be THE hit and Little Mermaid will of course do well because of it's commercial/tourist appeal, Disney, etc.
