Neither are a number of others.
So there.
::sticks out tongue::
You scared the bejesus out of me. I thought you were going to say [TOS] possted their closing notice.
I didn't see Adding Machine. But I'm really going to miss Passing Strange

Both were kind of a joke. :)
How was the Adding Machine a joke?
Adding Machine easily had the most complex score from last season.
Impossible. SITPWG Act I and SITPWG Act II already closed.
I'm with Tony on this one.

Yankeefan - I'm guessing you haven't seen a lot of shows this season.

Should I post the list?
No, you don't have to explain yourself to these people. Waste of time.
These are easily two of the smartest new musicals of last year's lot. Commercial, of course not. Hummable, nope. But moving works of musical theatre that move the genre forward? You bet.
Sure, last season had some FUN shows. ANd you're allowed to like them. But don't discount Passing Strange and Adding Machine because of their dark, challenging material. Especially Adding Machine.

They're both the future of musical theater, picking up where Spring Awakening left off.
Yes, but with no white male eye candy or a past cast member of Rent or Wicked, what's the point?

The key word in that sentence is "white."
Wanna figure out Yankeefan's theory on why PASSING STRANGE didn't last?

But Phantom will be coming back, LPF. Louder than ever.

i agree yankeefan; Adding Machine was pure genius. (as is quite a bit that comes out of the NEXT theatre company in evanston.)
sorry, but SITPWG is only half a show so it doesnt qualify -- the first act is brilliant (especially the mernier revival), but the second act is a big old sloppy mess that completely ruins the experience. i saw SITPWG four times, and coined (i think) a new phrase in the process: first-acting (i.e., leaving at intermission).
Legally Blonde!
oh wait... what?
that doesn't count!?
ha.
passing strange was, by far, the best musical of the year. however, adding machine was BIZARRE! the first hour was so off the wall. i was so physically uncomfortable. then after he's executed it all of the sudden became this really funny, poignant, intriguing, and though provoking show. unfortunately, for the next two days i had the voice of the wife singing "mrs. zeroooooo" stuck in my head.
