A list might help.

Just scanning the list but the first big omission to me is The Good Wife for Best Drama. Probably the best season of the show.
No Bellamy Young for Scandal, no love for Jay Leno's last season either.

I love Kristin Wiig but her nomination for The Spoils of Babylon made me WTF. American Horror Story: Coven (which I still think is idiotic that it gets placed in mini-series every year) shouldn't have been nominated as best anything. And I love Downton Abbey and Michelle Dockery, but her nomination was WTF-y, too. Same with Paul Giamatti for Downton Abbey. Louis CK for SNL is unsurprising, if also unwarranted.

Love the love for Orange is the New Black...Schilling, Mulgrew, Cox, Lyonne and Aduba. Whether it's a comedy is debatable, however.
And good to see Kate McKinnon up there.

Oh, I missed the nominations for Aduba, Cox, and Lyonne. Good for them! I didn't realize they were guest actresses in season one. I thought it was surprising it didn't get more acting nominations!
I hope Joanne Froggatt wins this year for Downton because the arc she had was tough, and her acting (as usual) was wonderful. I had hoped Laura Carmichael would replace Maggie Smith in there.
Yes, I love Dame Maggie, but if she wins again...for this character, I'm gonna spit! At least Betty White wasn't nominated.
I don't understand how Mulgrew is considered supporting, but the other three are considered guests...but glad they are recognized. Is Cox the first trans nominee?
My guess is it has to do with billing. I think the number of series regulars for the first season were limited, with the rest being considered 'guests'. The show submitted those actresses for 'guest actress,' with Mulgrew and Prepon (maybe one more?) as supporting actresses.
As always, I hope Hendricks wins for her unbelievable work on Mad Men, but I wouldn't be angry if Froggatt or Headley win.
At least Betty White wasn't nominated.
At least not for acting, since she was nominated for best host. Although she could have been acting that she was happy to be a reality host.

All these nominations for Orange are for season one, right? I don't think the three guest nominees were bumped up to regulars until the second season.
I'm surprised and little disappointed The Good Wife didn't get nominated. This was its best season ever.

Also, Tatiana Maslany was egregiously snubbed again for Orphan Black.

As much as its placement baffles me, at least it makes more sense than Luther being a miniseries.
And how is Fred Armisen a supporting actor in Portlandia?

My guess it that everyone submits for supporting on that? But that's just a guess.
Maybe that, on top of how crowded the Lead Actor in a Comedy category can be.
I guess these are pretty much what I expected, but the biggest name missing from the list for me is Allison Tolman who gave one of my favorite female performances in Fargo.
At least Billy Bob and Martin Freeman were nominated. I hope Billy Bob wins and Fargo is able to take Mini-Series.
I say it every single year, so I'll say it again.
It's impossible to get upset that so and so wasn't nominated since there are 5 slots for essentially a million "networks". It used to be 3 and then 4 networks that competed for these and now they're competing with the internet. I'm sure next year "Boy falls off skateboard" will be nominated for best actor for his YouTube video.
I love his work!
It still is pretty much only 3 or 4 networks that get nominated though. It's just no longer CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX but rather HBO, Showtime, FX and Netflix.
So happy for Orange. If their nominations are for season 1, most of the cast was billed as guest. That's an interesting show because there are so many characters and they are all so great. I'm particularly pleased that Natasha Lyonne was recognized. Nicky is one of my favorites. Though I would not be disappointed if Laverne Cox or Uzo Aduba won.

I know you're speaking generally, so I'm not taking it personally, but I'm not upset about any of the nominations. I just think several of them just get nominated because they are always nominated (Modern Family, Downton Abbey, Michelle Dockery, etc) not because they are worthy of a nomination.

I don't have a lot of opinions this year. Ever since I started my new job where I work from 8:30 to 5:30 every day I do not feel like watching a lot of TV. But here are my thoughts:
* I guess '24: Live Another Day' was not eligible this year, but if it was it's a shame that it was not recognized.
* I didn't expect 'The Sound of Music Live' to receive nominations for Outstanding Special Class Program or Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special because of its mixed reviews. I do wish Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti, and Christian Borle received nominations for their performances.
* Andy Samberg and 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' not getting any nominations is a surprise.
* I'm glad to see that 'Killing Kennedy' received a nomination for Outstanding TV Movie because I really enjoyed it.
* Matthew McConaughey is having such a great year. Good for him.
* I really did not expect to see 'The Good Wife' being snubbed for Outstanding Drama Series.
* 'Parks & Recreation' may not have had its best season, but I wish it had been nominated. I also really don't get why Nick Offerman keeps getting snubbed.
Whizzer - Allison Tolman WAS nominated for Fargo! She's in the supporting category which is probably why you missed her.
As for Fred Armisen in the supporting category for Portlandia, the Emmys don't have many rules about category placement but one they do have says that any performers appearing in a Variety Series MUST submit in the supporting categories.
