It's a sad sad day but it's better that it went out on top rather than jumping the shark after a move to Showtime. Here's to three seasons of the greatest work of art in television history:
"Just days after sources said that a deal to move the Emmy-winning comedy from its old home at Fox (which pulled it off the air earlier this year) to Showtime was all but finished, show creator Mitch Hurwitz pulled out over what were reportedly creative and financial differences. Hurwitz confirmed his departure in interviews late Monday."

That's sad. But, I remember it not sounding particularly promising after the last episode aired.
I'm going to semi edit what I'm thinking and say DAMN YOU MITCH HURWITZ!

A better article. -^
RIP, AD.
Great show that 10 years from now will get the respect it deserves!

Aww don't damn Mitch Hurwitz. He is one of the few geniuses who is not willing to prostitute his talent for money.
The first three seasons of Arrested Development are a milestone in any film artform and, I have a feeling, that the rest of the world will begin to realize this years from now.
And I would hate to see AD go the way of The Simpsons and become a tired shell of its former self that does not at all resemble what it once was. The fact that it ends here confirms its status as the greatest television show of all time.
Here's hoping that whatever Hurwitz commits himself to next proves to be fulfilling both creatively and (So genius gets rewarded) financially.
^true, I think I'm just going to be mad at him for a day, then I'm guessing if I watch an episode(which I have many recorded) I'll probably stop being mad, and then I'll by all the DVD(ok well maybe not all of them in one day) and be over it, sort of.

Mitch Hurwitz needs to make a movie.
Doesn't matter what it is. Doesn't have even have to be an AD movie.
But he needs to make one.
'Nuff said.

I agree. While it's sad to see a show you love go before it's time, it is also nice to have a solid series, rather than a few good seasons tarnished by x-number that went on when they really should have called it quits. I've proclaimed my Sports Night love many a-time, but I think it's a similar situation there. A great show that only got 2 seasons, but in the end, it was probably better than having 7 or 8, with 2-3 really tired seasons.
Great great show. Oh well at least it ended just as amazingly as it began
in my best chevy chase (shouting): and in other news, arrested development is still dead!
God, I'm so deppressed. Someone needs to give Mitch one of Gob's forget me now date rape pills.
Take this and love us again, Mitch!!

Are you guys robots? No tears? C'MON!!!
Seriously, though, I am almost crying. Good thing our show doesn't start our runthough til 6:30.
It makes sense and it's a little noble of Mitch, but I still don't have to like it.
Wow, Arrested Development is really gone. But ya' know? I think if it were still here I'd tell it that everything worked out, and [shouts] "I'll be bringing you some salmon rolls right away! ...in heaven.
I cried. Sweet, sweet tears.
And as much as I understand Mitch's reasoning, I still feel hurt and betrayed.
Taste The sad!
Seriously could not have started my day worse than opening the San Francisco Chronicle to that this morning. That said. It did get a great send off.
I still hold out hope, that the Bluths will make some kind of another appearance someday.
I still do think that it would have been a great match back to back with Weeds on Showtime.
Again?

Well, Hurwitz pulled out and the Showtime deal isn't going through if he pulls out.
He did say that he'd be interested in making a movie though...

The only good news for me: I don't have to worry about how the hell to fit cable (including Showtime) into my budget.
hehe, good point Jon. I had been worrying about that myself, since I already have HBO. Having to choose between The Sopranos and Arrested Development would've been too much for me to take.
It's so upsetting. I didn't want to be too optimistic about it, but the fact that there will be no more from the Bluths is so sad. It was one of the best written shows on TV and I hate that Fox couldn't look past ratings to realize that this show is the best thing they've got.

There are rumors swirling that fans should not count out an Arrested Development movie in the future. And the last line of AD WAS INDEED "I don't see it as a series....maybe a movie..."
How do you guys respond to that?
If this experience has taught me anything, it's not to get my hopes up. As far as I'm concerned, Arrested Development is dead. IF a movie were to be made, I'd see it as a pleasant surprise. But I REALLY don't want to bank on it. I can't take any more heartbreak.
I tried to like it. I really did. But it just never appealed to me. My deepest sympathy and condolences to those of you who will miss it.

We should have Ice cater the wake...
Well, I haven't really listened to them since Zingalamaduni. And didn't Speech go solo a while back?
