Shake Shack honestly always hits the spot for me. So good.
But if you want high-quality, Minetta Tavern's black label burger is absolutely beyond.

Shake Shack for me, although admittedly I haven't tried many burgers in NYC because I always want Shake Shack! But now that A. they're finally in California, B. it's virtually impossible to find seating (I used to get into the one on 8th Ave with no problem, but it's just a constant madhouse now), and C. it wasn't that great last time, I'll be expanding my horizons on the burger front.

I always liked the one at Amsterdam Ale House that comes with sweet potato fries for around 10 dollars. Joe Allen serves a nice burger as well.
A place has opened across the street from New York City Center and there are long lines. Many folks have commented that the price of the burger at 16 dollars is quite reasonable which is rather shocking to me. The shakes are around the same price.

I know 5 Napkin has a lot of fans, but I find their burgers (and frankly everything about the chain) overrated. When I want a burger in midtown, I'll usually head to Joe Allen.

I can't stand Shake Shack except for their shakes.
I like the Counter, and love Joe Allen's burger.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I usually get a good burger and nice service at 5 Napkin, but the last time I went (to the midtown location), the food ljay and I got was over-cooked and the service atrocious. The server barely said two words and couldn't be bothered to refill the drinks- we had to flag down another server to do it for us.
I find Shake Shack to be vastly overrated, and I chuckle every time I hear people call it the "In n Out of the east coast." Having gone out west multiple times and dined at In n Out, there's really no comparison. At all.

I don't really get the Shake Shack appeal myself- I've been once or twice, and the burger was fine, but I didn't find it impressive. My favorite is Bare Burger. Lots of options, and everything I've ever eaten there has been fantastic.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

That's where I go. The burger's not outstanding but it's pretty good, there's never a wait and for $11, the combo gets you the cheeseburger, a crap ton of pretty decent fries and a soda. And they participate in the airline miles dining programs so I pick up a few FF miles as well. Works for me.

I know it probably isn't the best burger in town, but I love to grab a burger with my friends or family at Junior's after a show. We usually end the night with coffee and cheesecake. It's kind of become a tradition.
I also really enjoy shake shack. I have a hard time venturing out and exploring the city too much due to my school's schedule (exhausting 13 hour days, 6 days a week), but I'm trying to explore when I can.
Kind of unrelated, but the pasta restaurant at Eataly is kind of my favorite place in the world and I'm a smidge obsessed. I highly recommend it if you haven't gone.

Five Napkin is one of my regular spots for burgers. But have recently discovered Bareburger and love it!!
The unusual choices of meats and toppings makes it a mini culinary adventure every time I go.

To be honest, if I ever am in a burger mood, I usually go to Five Guys.
