BTW, YWiW, I got this email from the manager of the restaurant:

"Thank you soo much for your comments on OpenTable about your dinner with us on January 19th!

I do apologize for the wait that night, but I am sure you noticed all the excitement in the dining room with our Don Julio Margarita Dinner! The restaurant was such a buzz that night and our table availability was limited.

We love hearing from our guests and hearing about your experience so we can improve where we have fallen short and continue to do what works! We strive for every element of your dining experience to be outstanding so when you leave you are craving more!!

When you are coming back to Border Grill Santa Monica, please contact me directly to set up the reservation! I look forward to meeting you!"

Hmmm - I just wish they would have let others know... but it explains why both of the hot tamales were in the house!

But I do note that the "event" started 1/2 hour AFTER our reservation. Nice for them to respond, but sounds like an excuse for bad planning.

But, still love the restaurant, and the company even more!

As I said to J2 last night, if they knew they were having this big event, why did they open the restaurant for reservations at all?

But as you said, I do love the place, and the company even more!

Great (and occasionally cranky when a reservation is over 1/2 late) minds! Actually that menu looks pretty interesting.

Crap - I just realized it's only Tuesday. I could have sworn it was Wedneasday already. At least we have a nice Tuesday uin store - temps in the 60s today and tomorrow! I'm loving El Nino! Or La Nina. Whomever.
