I'm just glad neither of you have first post.
She speaketh the truth!
I am glad of that as well.
Bso, was that supposed to be funny? Or were you being serious? Either way, anyone who ever asks me in future why I think you're a grade A moron will be directed to that "critique".
BSo, it appears your last post got eaten by what Tiff has affectionately dubbed "the thread monster."
I liked this round, and while I know judging goes beyond the isolated performance (improvement, versatility, etc), I do think everyone did very well.
-Kitz, I agree that this might not have been the best choice for you, but I don't think you blew it by any means. I agree with whoever said you "perform" the songs very well. Plus, I think you're hot
-I thought jrb handled a cappella EXTREMELY well, and odds are any pitch issues were actually just notes that sounded weird without the accompaniment. Love that song, too
I don't know why all the harsh criticism towards Ebonic and -Spidey - I thought they both sounded fine (though I guess people are being harsher critics and 'fine' isn't cutting it). Still, though, I enjoyed both performances.
-And then of course we have Kerrie, who couldn't even elicit a negative comment from BSo after he declared that "you ALL sucked." Talk about something to be proud of!
Great job, everyone. As always, it's gonna be a tough decision...
JAC - then it will be a secret post.
And on that note, I'm out for the night! Flame amongst yourselves, just don't get the thread deleted. Please.
Cheerio! Good night, folks. Don't forget to vote!!
Ha - appropriate, considering its content. The mystery continues...
Yes. Mon air de mystere is quite...dull.
"And on that note, I'm out for the night! Flame amongst yourselves, just don't get the thread deleted. Please."
Says the girl who ALMOST got the thread deleted. And then took a picture.
Kerrie- Another song I do not know!
Not my favorite by you, but yours have been among my favorites in the entire competition. That said. I did really really enjoy it. A little too much vibrato at song points, a couple times it would have been better to just hold out the note. But I did thoroughly enjoyed it. You showed that it doesn't need to be a huge belty song to be amazing!
Sorry, it was a typo I was trying to finish it before American Idol

Oh Jacx, the reasoning voice we all agree with.
And Cait--vibrato (not being picky, just for future reference!).
Ebonic, that's why I could never be a judge, because I'm a sucker for anything that sounds good to me - including riffing

:) We should start a riffing club. We'd probably be the only members, though.

Riffing has it's place but not excessive riffing. But, that is not what I meant about keeping my mouth shut.
I think everyone did fine. This was not anyone's best week but we did it and we got through it and I am proud of every single person.
Paddy, where on the left coast are you??
Los Angeles baby!
Working on the final touches on my reviews now.

Oh and patronus--I toned down the riffs for YOU.
Patty - I cannot PM you.
Please go on IM.
I have a surprise for yo' white ass.
Nevermind, it worked.
Oh and patronus--I toned down the riffs for YOU.
It was noticed and greatly appreciated. My reviews are coming soon, I promise.
So we won't get to be put out of our misery on this until Saturday?
Oh well.
Very interesting week this week. All in all it wasn't my favorite week. I just want to remind everyone that my scores are based primarily on this week's performance, but I do take the previous weeks into consideration as well as taking the judges comments into consideration. So, without further adieu...
Kitzarina - "Journey to the Past" Score: 7.9
This wasn't your best week. Your vocals in the middle of the song seemed to get just a bit strained almost like you were running out of breath. On the other hand, most of the longer notes and belts seemed stronger this week than they have been recently. The last note got a little pitchy and I think that may have been due to lack of breath as well. I've said it before and I'll say it again. You're voice is very unique and I love the quality of it. It has a cute meets sexy quality that you don't hear very often. Personally, my favorite weeks from you are when you are doing jazzier numbers and I am a little disappointed that you went with this over "Roxie" even if people did think it was overdone. This definitely wasn't your best week, but I think it was good enough to see you move forward.
ebonic_singer - Joy to the World Score: 7.9
First off, I have to give you props for taking into consideration the notes from the judges and avoiding all the unnecessary runs and riffs. This was definitely my favorite performance of yours by far. That being said, I didn't love it. I think you could have probably cut the song a full minute or so. It got awfully repetitive and made me lose interest before the song was over. The last note was particularly bad for me- it was a bad choice to end that song with a screamy note like that. I appreciate the energy, but it just seemed out of place. There were some pitchy moments here and there, but more importantly I love the fact that you had fun with the song and showed a little bit more personality this week. In the past weeks it was almost like you didn't care and I didn't think that you took the judge's advice/thoughts into consideration at all. This is a good building block for you and I really hope that you continue moving in this direction style wise rather than going back to the constant riffing from before.
Jerby - "Go the Distance" Score: 8.7
It started off a little bit shaky for me, but after about 30 seconds in I feel like you really hit your groove and showed why you picked this song. It's more in your "zone" than some of the other genres that we have in recent weeks and you can tell that you are more comfortable. You finished the song strong and really proved that an acapella rendition of something in this competition is okay if you are able to sing and you are definitely able to sing. My only concern is that it might have been a little bit safe of a song choice, but knowing you you'll come back with a completely contrasting song next week and continue to avoid being predictable. Another very strong week.
Spidey - Power of Love 7.9
Well, as embarrassing as this is to admit "Power of Love" is one of my favorite songs. I love "Back to the Future" and this song always takes me back to being on my big wheel in 1985 and riding down the hill and trying my hardest to get up to 88mph in order to go back to 1955...anyway, that has nothing to do with you or your performance this week....
For me, it was just okay. There wasn't anything that really stood out- good or bad. You are always good and have a nice tone to your voice, but I just found this version to be a little drab and forgettable. You also flubbed a line a little, but it was a minor thing. That isn't at all a commentary on your voice, but rather a really safe song that didn't really go anywhere or show you off well. It simply didn't do your voice justice. Next week, I'd really recommend that you try to find something that really showcases your voice and range off, because that's when you really shine is when you utilize that low to high like in the Maroon 5 stuff. All in all I think this was just a bit of a down week for you and I've really grown to like you in the competition more than I thought I would.
Kerrie - "You Must Love Me" Score: 9.1
You didn't like being in the bottom two last week, did you? Wow. In the words of Randy "The Dawg" Jackson - We've GOT A HOT ONE HERE TONIGHT! That was an absolutely wonderful rendition. There were a couple of little spots here and there that were pitchy, but all in all it was fantastic. As for the heavy vibrato that some people have mentioned, I think that's a style preference and I loved it. I love your voice and I am not blowing smoke when I say I'd lay down the cash to buy your CD right now. You rebounded very nicely this week and I think you have jumped right back to the top!
