Angels and Demons and Audition by Michael Shurtleft, both of which I'll halt in mid-sentence if I have to on the 15th.

When I was a child, I was nearly eaten by a giraffe, one of those rare, child eating ones. I'm terrified of your screenname.
But enjoy the book!
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostovo.
And I LOVE A Clockwork Orange. One of my favorite books. Woo for Russian words!
BluCat I haven't read "Life of Pi" either so you're not the only one lol. Anyway, I'm currently reading "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien for English. I started "Little Women" a while ago but wanted to get some of my summer reading done with. I can't wait for the 2nd book in the Eragon trilogy "Eldest". Has anyone read Eragon? It's really good.

"The Things They Carried" is excellent. I too read it for English. Watch out for that lemon tree.
You have to watch out for those child-eating ones, they like to sneak up on you in the dark.
If I get into AP English I will be re-reading 1984.
question-Am I the only one who hated Fahrenheit 451 and thought that it was a failed attempt at what 1984 accomplished?
Just finishing up "John Adams - Party of One" ("...for God's sake, John, sit down!")
Excellent book about an excellent man!

1984 scared me to death. I picked the worst time to read it too - 8/11.
Never got around to reading Fahrenheit 451.
I just finished re-reading "The House of Mirth" by Edith Wharton
I am just starting "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostovo

I saw "the Historian" in Borders yesterday. Thought about picking it up. It looked interesting.
A couple of my friends have recommended it to me...
The first few pages have grabbed my attention.

that does it... I'm gonna have to go get "The Historian"... I've been frittering away for a week trying to get into "1776" and I'm not in the mood...

Next time I'm at a bookstore, I'll have to pick it up.
Thanks, Addy. See what you've done.
House of Mirth! I LOVE Wharton!
Age of Innocence is my favorite. (Even the movie was pretty good)
I love her books b/c at the end you are bawling but still want to throw the book across the room....but, after you re-read them, you understand why it had to end the way it did.

I am reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix... refreshing my mind before Book 6 comes out.
Millie - exactly! I love Wharton, too...
I've been re-reading some of my favorites.
C_O - I'll mail you mine when I'm done. If you want.
The Brethren - John Grisham
Embarrssed to admit: Fourth of July by James Patterson...but like so many others I'm just killing time till Harry Potter. Funny how many of us have said that!

Finished Woodward's The Secret Man ... eh... and Iain Pears' The Portrait...a little odd and moody but I liked it. Currently working on Misfortune...the jury is still out and it could go either way.
