From what I've read, the Tati set is so completely remastered and cleaned up that it makes those old DVDs obsolete.

I am friggin' PISSED that Criterion doesn't release THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG and THE YOUNG GIRLS OF ROCHEFORT individually. I have absolutely NO INTEREST in purchasing the Jacques Demy boxed set for just those 2 films.
I want RIDE THE PINK HORSE, but it won't be released until a week or so, and this is only for in-stock discs.
By the way, Costco was recently selling a bunch of Criterions for $19.99 each. I picked up "The Last Emperor," "8 1/2" and "It Happened One Night" just about 2 weeks ago.

Just ordered a Watership Down and Don't Look Now--thanks Taz!
Carlos, I can't recommend the Jacques Demy box set highly enough--I think every film in it is a gem--but I do get not wanting to pay $50 bucks for just two films. I expect that Cherbourg, and maybe Rochefort will be available on their own sometime this year...
I haven't bit yet on the Criterion remasters of Cherbourg and Rochefort, because I'm not happy with the way they look.
There is an unpleasant yellow tint over them, like someone was breathing cigarette smoke on the negative for 30 years (and who's to say they weren't?).
It's really ugly.
I thought I might be able to "get used to it" when I watched them both on Hulu Plus (which carries all of the Criterion releases in HD streaming).
I find that Costco will often have Criterion titles available, at roughly 50% off. I picked up IF... and THE GREAT BEAUTY recently.
I'm dying to see DON'T LOOK NOW, it can't get here fast enough...
