Surprises:
No "Enchanted" for Best Pic (Comedy or Musical), but "Across the Universe???"
Both Sweeney and Hairspray are nominated. Nikki Blonsky, Helena and Amy Adams all three compete for Best Actress.
SEVEN nominations for Best Picture Drama!
A full list to follow...
HAIRSPRAY snubbed for Best Song.
I assumed Alan Rickman would get a supporting nod for SWEENEY TODD, only because it's a juicy role and second in status to Sweeney (Mrs. Lovett notwithstanding).
No Kristin Chenoweth or Jane Krakowski for Supporting Actress in TV...very disappointing.
Could they nominate any more Dramas??? And they still managed to leave out GONE BABY GONE and BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU'RE DEAD.
I wish Jennifer Garner had gotten a well-deserved nod for JUNO, but oh well.
I'm disappointed that Laura Linney wasn't recognized for her flawless, career-best work in The Savages. That film also should have been nominated for Best Picture (Musical/Comedy) and Best Screenplay. Across the Universe? Give me a break.
I would have liked to have seen Josh Brolin nominated for No Country for Old Men.
Very excited that both Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard are nominated. That group of women is great; I think I'd be happy with any of them. I also think Jennifer Garner should have been nominated for Juno, but I'm at least happy it got recognized.
All in all, it's a great list of nominations.

Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Kevin Dillon (Entourage) were nominated for their television work. Yay!
How did Katherine Heigl get a nod over Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh. Especially in a category where they ignored the prime supporting performances by Chenoweth, Krakowski, Vanessa Williams, Sara Ortiz, Becki Newton, Elizabeth Mitchell, and a plethora of other actresses that did better work than Heigl. I can't help but think she got nominated because she is hot-ish right now. She is a great actress but her best work was during Season 2, I don't think she should have gotten a nomination.

I"m not really a Heigl fan--I've been watching Grey's again this season after a break and I agree that Wilson and Oh are far superior actresses.
I think it was far worse, though, that Chloe Sevigny, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Grace Zabriskie were overlooked AGAIN for Big Love.
I'm a little surprised by the Best Picture nom for American Gangster. Was anyone else bored by this film?
Where did the other thread go?
Ray, I had the same questions exactly. Sandra Oh had a hell of a season last year. If they were going to nominate an actress from that show, it should have been her. I also don't know how Grey's got nominated for Best Drama. Season three pretty much sucked.
Well, I was more than willing to give this one up, but what happened to the other "official" Golden Globes thread???
Did somebody poo in it?
I'm totally shocked (and a little happy) that Across the Universe got a nomination. At its core it's a really beautiful film and I'm glad people noticed that.

the foreign press LOVES Taymor. So, thus, the nomination.
Once!!!
How was Once completely overlooked? Even for MUSIC?
Um..UNIVERSE OVER ENCHANTED????!???
And also, no love for BETTY? It won last year and now only 1 nod? Where's the love?
Oh my god, yeah!
Where's the Betty Love!??

Cate Blanchett gets two nominations in one year. She's one of only few actors to ever do that in a single year.

David Duchovny? Californication sucks. And I didn't think he was anything special.
Glad to see Alec Baldwin on the list.
Kevin Dillon and Jeremy Piven are always excellent, but Entourage was really weak last season. I think Ugly Betty should have that spot.
Initial reactions:
-THE GREAT DEBATORS should not have gotten a nomination
-THE SAVAGES should have been nominated over ACROSS THE UNIVERSE
-Laura Linney (SAVAGES) should have been nominated over Blonski (HAIRSPRAY.)
-GO JOHN TRAVOLTA!
(And if Marion Cotillard doesn't win, there's no justice.)
My gasp was over Once not getting any song noms. But that doesn't mean it won't get Oscar noms for Best Song.
And where's the love for Before the Devil Knows Your Dead. It is Sidney Lumet's triumph, yet I don't think I saw once nomination for anything. If anything it should get:
Best Picture
Director
Supporting Actor (Finney)
and perhaps Supporting Actress (Tomei)
And Screenplay.
Sheesh, I would definitely say that BTDKYD is one of the best films of 2007. Let's hope for Oscar Noms.
The only category I like is Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy. 5 great performances. Going to be hard to choose.
In Drama: Definitely Julie Christie.
Seriously, how in the world did Nikki Blonsky get a nod over Laura Linney?
