Oh right, Greg didn't answer the dates part of the Chicago question. But a geocities page I found indicates that it was for
six weeks during July/August 1997.
[note: see later message, below, for more info after I heard more from Greg]

Mamie, here's what Greg says about those dates for Chicago:
"B'way CHICAGO was June, July, August and the first week of September in '97."

Ali, pretty much from since his Juilliard days.
His who's who page here at BWW lists shows, movies, dates, etc.

[edit] - But anyway, it's (and yeah, I doublechecked w/ Greg to be sure):
first off-Broadway show - Have I Got A Girl For You
first Broadway show - Serious Money
first movie - House on Carroll Street
first tv - Newhart episode, "Fun with Dick and Joanna"

LOLOLOL - I've just GOT TO ASK.... I saw "Privates on Parade" (not the one with Greg). The title didn't necessarily refer to the ranks of the soldiers in that show...... So, did Greg appear in the alltogether when he did the show?
(go ahead Barb.... ask him)

Okay, he's been asked. Awaiting his reply. :)
There was a thread about nudity on stage that mentioned Greg and Privates on Parade: https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?thread=282036
But nevermind that, because I just got Greg's reply in my email box. He is a hoot! Here's what he said about it:
"You BUTT I was...uhh BET I was naked. Only an back view avail to the majority, but if you sat in the balcony on the left or right you could see the full monty."
lordy mama! Well, there ya go, Mamie! lol
Barb
And I missed this?! heh. That's very interesting!
lol. Greg's too funny! I've never heard of Privates on Parade...
I was talking about this in the love thread and wondered if anybody else knew. This may sound kinda weird but, I wonder if Greg played any sports in high schoool? Also, I was just thinkin' about this, does anybody know the origin of the name Jbara? I don't know if I'm like, crossing some line asking but I was just a bit curious.

I know Greg's a sports fan and fairly athletic but can't remember any specifics about if/what he might have played in high school.
The name Jbara is Lebanese in origin. Greg is of part-Lebanese, part-Irish descent.
Lebenese and Irish! I think I remember you telling us that a while ago, Barb. What a great combination.

OK, this probably a little random, but it struck me as kinda' funny.
**first tv - Newhart episode, "Fun with Dick and Joanna" **
Dick - John Lithgow in 3rd Rock
and
Joanna - Gleason?
I'm tired. I think going to bed would be a good option!
Liz, HE DID MARCHING BAND!
lol, i LOVE that about him, because I am in marching band, and so far, it's been one of the best experiences in my life. I heard that he was drum major! (or, band leader) Am I right?
Now, about Mr. Jbara; he is one of the most talented people on earth. I've heard his commercials on the website, and, he is an amazing voice actor. It's basically something you're born with (the right voice, not the acting), I guess, and when I listened to those commercials, I was doubting that it was him I was hearing! And what's even cooler is that I LOVED "As Told By Ginger!" growing up, and, again, when I saw a video of him speaking in that show, I was surprised, to see that HE was the one speaking in one of my favorite childhood shows!
I have yet to watch all of his other works. So far, all I've seen him in is DRS.
Lebanese? That is so cool! I didn't know that!

Jamie, glad you took time to listen to the audio clips at Greg's web site. Just recently added the audio clip from one of his Grounded For Life episodes ... Greg's "Dan O'Keefe" always cracks me up. His "Jo Jo Regosi" character from the short-lived "That's Life" series always had the same effect on me.
But yes, he is quite the amazing voice actor; it is hard to believe the same vocal chords can produce all those different dialects! Takes talent and a good ear I think!
Speaking of which, I took out my Family Guy dvds the other day and watched his episode. Couldn't even tell it was him! Very impressive. And he earns more points for voicing a character on one of my favorite shows!
EDIT: I've also listened to all the sound clips. I LOVE him singing 'You've Got a Friend in Me'. He has such a great voice.

he probably does, cuz, u know, greg does EVERYTHING, but uh....can Greg sing opera? considering his vocal talents, i'm sure he can. plus, he sang in the church choir and school choirs. haha, just wondering!
"One time I saw that thread go for over 4 pages, praising everything and everyone under the sun EXCEPT Greg Jbara. It gradually became less and less about him and more and more about everything else."
Anyone else read the last sentence and think Sunday in the Park with George (second Act)? Cause I did! I mean...has Greg Jbara ever been in a Sondheim show? *cough*
Kerrie- I'm jealous that you've seen Greg's Family Guy episode! lol. Family Guy is one of my favorite shows as well and just knowing that Greg was on it made me verrrry happy. lol. I've listened to his soundclips and loved them ALL. For some reason they came out choppy on my computer, especially the video clip of As Told By Ginger, so I need to go back and listen to them all again. And I agree that his You've Got a Friend in Me is wunderbar!
Lebonese, now that's cool! And Irish, that makes me happy!
And he must be athletic, just look at his arms!!! lol.
I just listened to the montages on the VOX site. Wow! Greg is just, Wow. He's more wow than ever! lol. I can't even recognize him! I've probably heard his commercials before or his tv episodes before and not even realized it was him! lol.
Posting this on both threads for those who may have missed it.
This makes me happy. Posted by Jose' in the, "just for the record..." thread:
"I believe that Greg Jbara is one of the top 5 nicest talented men on Broadway today."
Liz...the team was not great, but Greg was pretty decent at softball. Was a good hitter, went 4-4 on occasion...played third, sometimes made nice plays, sometimes made errors. As an MLB fan, sometimes watching broadway softball errors are hard to take...gotta keep reminding myself differences in players.
And on another note, last night I watched act 1 of Victor/Victoria. Greg really hasn't done much yet, though I've heard him talk with the Andre french accent, I've heard him talk normally, completely adjusted to both, but was totally thrown for a loop when he talked with an Italian accent. Wow, like was previously said really a master of all dialects. Great to see Julie Andrews on the stage and well I've seen Rachel York in Dessa Rose and Ragtime and she was great in the motherly, older roles but to see her as Norma in this was a hoot! She was great and soo different, it was 10 years ago but still, she's certainly climbing the charts as one of my favorite broadway actresses.

Answer to the sports-in-school query:
"In high school I played no sports. In junior high I played baseball (catcher), basketball (forward) and football (second string quarterback until I broke my right thumb in practice). Also played little league baseball and competed in summer city tennis leagues." - Greg
Was Greg really drum major? That would be amazing. Every night at band camp I'm so tempted to just run up on the podium and start conducting. If Greg had actually been drum major that would just be....all the more reason. Follow in his footsteps! I must know! If he was, that could be my reason if people ask me why I want to be drum major.
"Well, Greg Jbara was one."

Greg mentions in a 2001 interview for Movie-Vault.com that he was marching band president in high school.
btw, one of my favorite parts of that interview is when he says that he played Frosty the Snowman in first grade. :)
