I was actually thinking of that SNL sketch too. LOL! I'm pretty sure it is on Dan's best of DVD. I'll have to check tomorrow.
Here's the video of the exchange between Joe the Plumber and Barack Obama:

I'd love to see an SNL sketch with Joe the Plumber, Joe Sixpack, and all the other Average Joes sitting around talking about the debate and the candidates.
They interviewed the real Joe this morning on GMA. He came off very well spoken. When pressed to say who he was voting for he refused saying people should get informed and make up their own minds.
I hate this real Joe the Plumber even more than the metaphorical one. He actually went on Katie Couric's post-debate interview and compared Obama to...SAMMY DAVIS JR:
===
Katie gets the first interview with Joe Wurzelbacher and, like everyone else in America, he talks like a pundit.
"McCain was solid in his performance," he says. "I still don't know where he stands," he says of Obama. "I'm middle class. I can't have my taxes raised any more."
He also says he actually isn't in the bracket where Obama would raise his taxes -- but he's worried that Obama will shift the bracket down.
He also said that, in his encounter with Obama, the Illinois Senator "a tap dance...almost as good as Sammy Davis, Jr."
POLITICO: Joe: Obama's 'tap dance almost as good as Sammy Davis, Jr.'
Did anyone see him with Diane Sawyer? It remains unclear how he miraculously showed up to pose a question that has little if anyting to do with his actual career issues. He won't say who he's voting for, but "Baraka Obama wants socialism. It's a slipper slope." Yeah, your vote is private all right, Joe.
And let me get this straight -- if he has to pay 3% more taxes, once he pulls 250 thou a year -- a figure he isn't close to making now as he unstops sinks across Ohio -- that kills his incentive to forge ahead? The 93% more doesn't count? Please.
Joe, I've known small businessmen. Small businessmen are friends of mine. You're no small businessman.
What you are, is a terrific opportunity for Bruce Willis to do an unbilled cameo on SNL.
And fodder for a "Joe the plumber ... hot or not?" thread.
Pal Joey, I'm sorry I didn't see that particular interview. How can one say, "they don't know where Obama stands?" I think McCain is one the who speaks in generalities.
I think Joe the Plumber was a GOP plant, specifically placed there to ask that question on film to set up McCain's use of him in the debate. Cynical? Yup. But this whole election has shown me that the GOP is no longer interested in any particular ideology. They're only interested in tricking the American people into letting them hold on to power.

McCain totally lost the preschool vote by ignoring Bob the Builder and Thomas the Train.

It is a bit suspicious- but I think if "Joe the Plumber" is the focus of MCain's last three weeks of campaigning, he will b a laughingstock.
Besides, MCNBC crunched the numbers last night and said that neither candidate's health care plans would effect him, and he would pay less taxes under Obmama's plan.

If he is not in an ad, he will be by the end of the day.
Joe is not going to stop this train!
With all of the dirty politics, I wouldn't be surprised if Joe was a plant as well. I also think the lady who said Obama was an Arab was also a plant so they could show John repudiating it. Especially because she kept stammering and then blurts out he's an Arab- it just didn't make sense. Another reason- McCain is the one who keeps bringing them up. Just sayin'
I think Joe the Plumber and Josephine the Plumber should settle the election in a face-to-face debate of their own.
"Let me explain why my plan for replacing your pipes with copper fixtures will be better for your home!"
Joe the Plumber
Josephine the Plumber
I know who I'M voting for!

I think Republican casting really blew this one- he's so unappealing. The more I hear from him, the less I like him.
I'd be so thrilled to make $250K a year Id gladly give half of it back in taxes if need be.

Joe is not a plant. he is an american who works harder than the rest and earns the money to prove it. why should he pay a penalty for working harder than others?
I agree, JoeKv.
I'm just glad he cleared up any confusion about whether or not he's Matt Damon. ;o)
Actually- they just said on CNN that Joe is not even a licensed plumber in his state! Also, McCain called him his friend- he didn't even meet him!

Nope, not a licensed plumber----
NY Times on Joe The Plumber
I bet he wished he had never spoken to Obama now! Now we all know that not only is he not a licensed plumber- but he also owes back taxes! ha!
