"Well, there's still plenty of decent tickets to the single show at MSG."
Now it's stressful in a different way. It's stressful because the prices are too high and if there are probably somewhere some fans of hers who'd like to see her in concert (maybe for the first time) and the seats are far too cost-prohibitive.
Again, I would like to see a real honest assessment of how the hell all those empty seats get filled.
I just streamed "Body Shop" and it's a really good song. She should have started with that track and then blasted off in the creative stratosphere. Of course, "she" is a relative term. It took six writers and two producers, but still, it's a great track.
Then it streamed right into "Holy Water" which made me laugh when I thought about the person somewhere around here who thought she was saying "Jesus loves my feline animal best." It's a Kanye-produced track. She's clearly saying, "Yeezus."
I stopped listening after those two songs because Kimmy Schmidt.
But back to Maddie. I wonder if she'll see the NME review, because as she famously said, the stupidest Brit is smarter than the smartest American.
Madonna Rebel Heart -- 5/10
… ‘Rebel Heart’ finds 56-year-old Madonna still trying to pass herself off as a teenager. It’s a disconnect that has become increasingly grating… ‘Devil Pray’ – reminiscent of Lady Gaga’s crazed 2013 dance tune ‘Aura’ – … Diplo makes Madge sound fun, but as the candy-bass ‘Bitch I’m Madonna’ – on which she sings, “We’re jumping in the pool and swimming with our clothes on/ I poured beer in my shoe and got my freak on” – shows, the gulf between her life and her music is now impossible to ignore…. Ultimately, ‘Rebel Heart’ feels like a wasted opportunity. Trite self-empowerment anthem ‘Iconic’ informs us that there’s only two letters difference between Icon and I Can’t. Sadly, there are also two letters between class and ass.
Yes, "Body Shop" is lovely. It's very sweet, but also wonderfully weird. It almost sounds like a hybrid of Paul Simon and Kate Bush. And, she actually sounds like a human woman on that track, like she does on "Joan of Arc". Do wish the production throughout the album had paid as much attention to the quality of her voice.
"I think SEX and Holy Water is definitely geared to a younger audience that did not experience Erotica or Justify my love. There is a little bit for everyone. There are 3.5 generations of fans "
How many young fans however are buying this, and honestly don't know Madonna's back catalog? I'm willing to accept that there are fans of all generations--but I don't buy that those fans would only know her past few albums or especially singles because that's all they have any interest in.
I don't know. I feel there's 10 years of 'kids' that really never experienced a radio hit since 'Hung Up'.
think it's perfectly okay to discover Madonna's back catalog later in life.
Especially if mom/dad grew up with her. It's the last thing you want to hear. and of course there's parents who raise their kids with their music and the kids graciously accept it. it's a mixed bag. I know many kids that don't know much of M's catalog except Vogue and Like A Prayer. So i guess it's how you're exposed to music.
I never cared for the Beatles or David Bowie until my early 20's- and then life changed. And feel so wrong for not having it earlier in my life. but hey- it happens.
I think it's the same for any long standing artist. It's perfectly acceptable for younger audiences to discover her catalog at different times.
Do wish the production throughout the album had paid as much attention to the quality of her voice.
That's my biggest problem with the album. The vocals are mostly way overproduced and auto-tuned. It's too bad because this really is her most consistent album in years. I don't love it yet, but it's much better than MDMA, and it's not as generic as HARD CANDY.
What sucks is that those demos that leaked sound SO much better without the autotuning. If she would have released them just as they were, all people would be talking about is how AMAZING her voice sounds!
One of the things I like about this album is that, to me, it sounds way less autotuned than the last two. I wasn't a fan of Hard Candy. There were some songs I really liked on MDNA, but both of those albums kind of felt like listening to Madonna filtered through a tin can. I don't feel that way with this album. I'm also really enjoying the title song Rebel Heart.
We'll done Namo for posting one of a very few mixed to negative reviews, you are still missing a couple of others love. Glad you liked Body Shop. I also have to say I think this album is way way less auto tuned than her past few. Her vocals on many of the tracks are stripped back. Jordan is right though that the demos were far more stripped back and she sounded great. And Namo we agree again, I bloody love Kimmy
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
"We'll done Namo for posting one of a very few mixed to negative reviews, you are still missing a couple of others love."
I read NME every week. I wasn't out looking for negative to mixed to rave reviews of Madonna.'
LOL sure
Erik are lot of the demos are still online, give them a listen, its kinda awesome to see the evolution of the songs. Hold Tight Demo 5 is perfect, that should have been the final version not what's on the album now
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
It's ok I'm sure you can stroke his ego and make him all better, you are awesome at that so he will be fine.
Hits Daily Double are predicting first week sales of 115k to 125k so she shouid take number one but that's lower than I thought (I thought between 150-165k)
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
I apologize if I was too subtle. So, you're saying you don't like to be addressed that way, love? "Do as I say, not as I do"? Would you behave any differently if I equated you to VD? Would that stop you from posting in any thread as repetitively as you want?
Turns out, body shaving has almost wiped out pubic crabs. The only good thing to come of it.
AGREED. Can this ridiculous trend be over? It's done even more damage to the porn industry than the bikini tan lines of the 90s.
