"They are people who cannot cope with the world and its often chaotic randomness and so need to create these conspiracy fantasies."
Which is just a horrible distraction and time suck, especially when juxtaposed with the work of people who want to make the world a safer and more peaceful place. I happened to stroll slowly and quietly between the locations of both bombings tonight, as well as lingering at the makeshift memorial in Copley Square. It was a beautiful night and Boyslton Street was packed. But the three sites were quieter, solemn, and filled with handmade monuments to peace and understanding. It's an eloquent silent rebuke of the bombers and people who would destroy, as well as those who would create false narratives about the reality of what happened.
But in these false narratives, they ARE doing something. They're the heroes by seeing through the lies! By spreading the word! By holding by their morals! By preparing end of the world kits and hoarding ammo!
It's the most convenient and self-serving thing. They live in a world in which they are right because they are right.

The story of the man they carjacked
Give the writer of that article a Pulitzer prize NOW.
“Don’t look at me!” Tamerlan shouted at one point. “Do you remember my face?”
“No, no, I don’t remember anything,” he said.
Tamerlan laughed. “It’s like white guys, they look at black guys and think all black guys look the same,” he said. “And maybe you think all white guys look the same.”
“Exactly,” Danny said, though he thought nothing of the sort.
""When both the FBI and the CIA looked into this warning, they both deemed nothing had happened that was troublesome. They cannot possibly keep track of every single individual that has had suspicions raised.""
What kind of statement is that? This wasnt jut some random person. This monster(Sorry Namo)was Hand Delivered by an Allies Intelligence Agency, obviously they shouldve kept him on their watchlist.
Between this and the whole uproar that Nanny Bloomberg and Commissioner Ray Kelly are rightly raising over not being informed about the Times Square threat (and this isnt the first time), i have to think their will be major questions how our Intelligence is being run.

I had been wondering when the car-jacking victim's story was going to come out, PalJoey. Quick thinking on his part. Without him and his instinct, these guys may well have gotten away. Thanks for that link.

Just. STFU. Sue.
Despite your best efforts to always separate people who criticize you or to place them in pairs, EVERYONE wants you to leave. And you know I wasn't the only one who took issue with your annoying puffery in your language choices. And when you painted yourself into a corner you DID say people here supported the bombers. Why? Because you are a world class asshole.
omg, lighten up! why must you get personal.
We actually agree on alot when it comes to this story. and that little dig is nothing compared to all the vile things you have called me.
if youre donna dish it out you have to be able to take it.
I recall being told that because I thought the guy should be read his rights that I not only wanted him to get off on a technicality but also that I wanted Bin Laden still alive.

You recall correctly.
In fact, I seem to recall the lot of us being called terrorist sympathizers.

Yes, *that* was the phrase.
I just scroll pasts it's posts.
I don't miss a thing.
While I do not agree with the Miranda rights or civil trial I have never called anyone a terrorist sympathizee or ever questions anyone's love of this country. Ifi gave that impression I apologize sincererly. I still though stick with my calling these terroristss animals. Only a subhuman looks to kill innocent children.

I can't even imagine the intestinal fortitude it took to make the escape from the Shell station across the street to the Mobil. My heart rate increases a bit just thinking about it.
I know! I'm pretty certain I would have just been frozen with terror. It's a remarkable story.

There must be a right-wing version of the Bill of Rights, which only contains one amendment - the Second one. Because they apparently never heard of amendments Four through Eight. The right-wingers would love us to have a justice system like in the old Soviet Union.

Siny,
This great Daily Show clip illustrates your point brilliantly.
It's Official — Fox News Just Hit Rock Bottom. Hard And Repeatedly.
The thing is, the Bill of Rights, and the rest of the Constitution, are available to anyone on US soil, regardless of legal standing.
Its funny what people interpret to fit their own cause.
