But I give her major props for "still trying to do what her younger body could do much easier". And you know damn well that if she had stopped the performance and said "You know what? I just fell down and hurt myself so please cut to something else and I'll go get it attended to", you would be ragging on her for not being a professional and having a "the show must go on" attitude. The fact that she was able to get back up and finish the song speaks volumes about her professionalism, capabilities and endurance. Don't know why you have so much vitriol toward this woman, but me thinks it might be because you have more in common with her than you care to admit.

Namo you will turn anything that she does, say or happens to her in a way to bash her again. That is what you do, it's who you are, it's ironic you go on about 'you have been there and done that' since the same could be said for you.
The performance was totally fine, the outfit was fine, she was not half naked and flashing her boobs, she did a routine because that's who she is, she is a performer first, always has been. So what is the problem now? does she need to tone down more for you luv? Slippers and a dressing gown, is that fine for such an old woman at the grand old of age of 56?

I feel horrible that she fell. I feel she does not need the ridiculous trappings and aerobic workouts, all of which could be argued contributed to the disaster.

But it's true. I have always thought the "Gwen Verdon missed her own mother's funeral because the show must go on" is just idiotic bullcrap. I think it's as stupid as macho athletes "sucking it up" and limping off the field to applause at a football game. Stay down and let them get out a stretcher.
I prefer Judy Garland, so in love with the audience on the first night of a two night run on a tour she just keeps singing until she's completely drained, so drained she has nothing left for the next night so she goes out onstage and fakes the death of a friend and tells the audience she's too distraught to perform and they understand, right? THAT'S showbiz.
"I'm indestructible" is not showbiz. It's superhero movie.
I just realized that one of the things that Bowie did as he aged was he moved away from the outlandish characters and moved more to a performance as himself as Regular Joe. Or as close as he could get. Granted, this too was a character but it was more human and relatable.
Watching her take that terrible spill and get up and groan through the rest of her number reminded me nothing more of Reagan walking into his car after having been shot and nobody in the car even knew he'd been hit. But I guess Madonna and vulnerability will never be on the menu, just Madonna a bravado.

She likes being a "bad" girl, being provocative, speaking her mind, and marching to the beat of her own drummer. It's been a hard lesson for me to learn, but I think that if you're going to continue to be a Madonna fan, you have to give up the idea of her aging with much dignity and grace and just go along for the ride. I mean, this is the post-menopausal woman who dressed as a cheerleader on her last tour. It's a long way from the SEX book to photoshopped bathroom selfies. I hope that before we get to Baby Jane territory, we get a more empowered and - yes - self-aware Madonna.

Re. all the talk about whether Madonna was singing live, The Brits are shown "live" but with a minute delay, so they can edit out any swearing. Watch Kanye's performance this year and you will hear his mic being muted constantly.
