It’s written and produced by liberals. They know exactly what they’re doing. The left has gone so far left, they’ve circumnavigated the planet and ended up on the right.

Liberal Jews. And there are some in the cast too. (And yes, there are Zionists in that bunch.) Please spare us your ill-informed, inflammatory, nonsensical trolling.

You are a clown, incapable of understanding satire. Spend less time sitting behind a keyboard spewing your nonsense and out in the world engaging with humans who challenge your narrow mind.
So before the thread totally nosedives, Slam Frank's current run is developmental. It's inspired by a Twitter thread. https://asylumnyc.com/slamfrankmusical/
"“Did Anne Frank ever acknowledge her white privilege?”
This question — asked and debated by real people in a massive 2022 twitter thread — is the inspiration behind Slam Frank.
Slam Frank imagines what happens when a progressive community theater company decides to transform Anne Frank’s true story into an intersectional, multiethnic, genderqueer, decolonized, empowering Afro-Latin hip-hop musical.
And you, the audience, have the *privilege* of witnessing it.
This is it, folks, a developmental run of the actual show. Slam Frank is a real musical."

Oh I understand satire. I think you’ll find that my first post said “It seems the left CAN meme.” (Perhaps you’ve heard the phrase “The left can’t meme.”)
The irony here is that the left are meme-ing themselves. The left hates itself, and everyone else.

Perfect example of the Right being unable to understand satire, and why they are so bad at it, while the Left is able to satirize itself (Portlandia, etc). It's telling that you think satirizing something means "hating " the thing you are satirizing. Now go eat your beef tallow and leave us alone.

"The left" and "the right" are grotesque, unhelpful, and often lazy, generalizations that overlook the range of opinions and diversity of people that exist within each.

Thanks, again I do understand satire, and the fact that the left is satirizing itself so loudly shows me that there’s a self awareness of how ridiculous they are. It’s a very curious own-goal situation, and done with such commitment (and success!) that it really points to some level of self-loathing. Why go so hard at something unless you mean it?
Beef tallow isn’t generally used for eating, although it is involved in heat conduction for certain items, and mostly useful as a soap or moisturizer. I guess the left still can’t meme. For better results, try “Now go eat your tomahawk steak”, “Now go use your gym membership”, or “Now go enjoy your peaceful and meaningful life”.

Again, it's very telling that you see self-satire as self -loathing. It shows a healthy self-awareness, and generally being able to laugh at yourself is seen as a healthy trait, not an "own-goal." Many liberals/progressives find aspects of progressivism silly, and that is what is being sent-up in this play. That's why every genuinely funny satire of liberalism comes from liberals, and when conservatives try it just flops.
This all reminds me of the saying " there is no such thing as bad press "
When you find something distasteful, it may be better to ignore it instead of giving it more publicity by posting about it. I would never have heard about this show without this thread.
I do find this show to be in bad taste.
In April when I visited Amsterdam for the first time, I toured the Anne Frank House & that was a very moving experience.

Oh, man. I was hoping it was a Sinatra jukebox musical about crystal meth.

The campaign for this show has been built on interacting with social media, especially on TikTok. Congrats on feeding their marketing strategy.
Billy Porter appears to be on payroll for both Cabaret and Slam Frank. Two publicity birds with one stone. “SOMEONE’s got to be oppressed!”

Back to your low life right wing trolling, I see. Why don’t you go puke out garbage like this on a political site? What is the point of your constant nonsensical political posts on a Broadway board except to prove to the world what a troll you are? Jesus f*cking Christ.
Slam Frank is really cashing in on the Robot Casting Controversy.

Agree with the above poster I had no idea it would be so good. The audience was in tears laughing throughout the whole thing and everyone on that stage can SING. The story as a whole is pretty muddled, but the dark twist at the end with Margot almost made up for it. Each song is funny in its own right, but I wish they could figure out how to make the sum greater than the parts.
If they can really focus on making the book coherent, I can see this having a Titanique-level run (and even that show wasn’t coherent). This is much smarter though and will surely attract a specific crowd. They lampooned everything from Hamilton to Dear Evan Hansen to Jamie Lloyd.
I had someone totally not plugged into theater at all asking me about this
Apparently it’s all over TikTok
Saw this today and it’s just f*cking brilliant. It just succeeds on almost every level. It’s still being worked on apparently and there’s a few things that can be trimmed down and one or two parts maybe even cut but that’s just nitpicking with something this smart.

I also saw this yesterday and was really impressed by it. It's over the top satire, and it goes VERY dark towards the end. After 80 minutes of general laughter by the audience, there were some audible gasps during one particular sequence. Even I, who generally agrees with the point the show was making, was a little taken aback by precisely how the show was making it. But it worked for me, and it was consistent with the no holds barred nature of the rest of the show.
I'll be curious what the future of the show is, but I hope it has a life beyond this run.
I loved it and it definitely has a life beyond this theater. I hope they choose a slightly larger theater way off Broadway so it can have a long, great life, like Titanique.
