So happy for Shaun White. He is incredibly talented. Big air and big hair!
He really is amazing in his talent.
His hair reminds me of Carrot Top - eewwwww!
Is anyone still up? What's the purpose of the double luge?
Congrats Shaun...he so deserves that medal!!! Janey, I was lucky that I stayed awake to watch Shaun.
Is the double luge just the luge with two people? I'm not sure what the purpose is....LOL

Looking forward to the hockey, the speedskating and the figure skating today! And also to talking to my mom who just got back from six days at the Olympics! :)
Very much looking forward to speed skating tonight.
So of course I missed Colbert last night! I just saw him crawl into the fireplace on the NBC set and lost it! I caught him (I think it was him) signing someone's leg. A female speed skater I think. His joke about NBC faking Vonn's injury for ratings was too funny. The more I see the coverage of her winning the more something just seems a bit off about it. The tear just don't look sincere.
I can't wait to see THE SHAUN WHITE STORY starring Hillary Swank!
I was super excited to see Shani Davis win the gold again. I think I might be in love with him.
uncageg, Lindsey Vonn's crying seemed fake to me as well. It's as if NBC thought about showing it after the fact, but didn't capture it the first time, so they asked her to "cry" for the camera (especially since the event wasn't shown live). Her interaction with that guy (I have no idea who he was), just came off as "ewwww" and phoney.
I am watching The Today Show and they are all over the Shaun White and Vonn coverage but not so much with Davis. They did say that they are going to try to get an interview with him at some point.
I think Shani Davis rubbed a lot of people the wrong way when he dropped out of one of his events at the last minute.
I don't really blame him considering the debacle that was going on with the ice conditions. I could see why he would drop out to focus on his event.
Was that earlier this week? Is it the one he qualified for but had the option to drop out of? If I remember correctly, it wasn't one of his best events.
I think he went on record saying he dropped out to save himself for his better event. Unfortunately when he dropped out, it didn't give enough time for his alternate to compete in his place.
One of the PR problems for Shani was that many still hold a grudge because he supposedly "withdrew" from the Team Pursuit in Turin...it's a cloud following him and even if he was correct in withdrawing from a race in this olympics it makes him seem like a poor team player and selfish, something he was accused of 4 years ago.
Doodle, I totally forgot about that.
Dottie, supposedly there has been much backpedaling about that controversy and that Shani was never supposed to skate that Team Pursuit in the first place...but who knows? I do remember words between him and Chad Hedrick.
Shani comes off bad in the press as he was not really **getting** Colbert.

Dottie, I'm pretty sure the guy she was hugging is her husband, who is also her coach.
I'm going to have to dvr the skating tonight because I work so I better not open these threads!
Here's to Plushenko! Give it to 'em, Evgeny!
strummergirl, thank you for that article. It put all of the pieces together for me. I actually thought Colbert was just joking last night. I didn't know that he stepped in financially. Shani evidentally does not watch Colbert and get his brand of humor. And knowing the whole story actually made last night a bit funnier!
Stockard, you are correct, that was her husband/coach. he used to ski also.
And I can't believe the US Curling team just lost that game in the extra round.
And here I thought Shani Davis was hot; not so much anymore.
