I don't know. I see them stopping and searching all around town. It used to be almost every day at my subway station which is the center of the west village.
But those are not what we're talking about and not what Bratton is talking about. Not the tables at the subway but the cops walking up to black people and stopping and frisking them without probably cause. That's the good old days he wants to bring back.

It's so true. Fundamentalist thinking about anything is dangerous. That's what used to frustrate me about the fundamentalist former gay dude who posts here who made a bargain with God that he'd be celibate if He spared him from the AIDS epidemic. To him, every contradictory word in the Bible is literally true.
A brilliant quote from one of today's Humans of New York that could not go unshared:
"I'm just trying to live through this problem man created. Nature didn't create the problem. Man created the problem. And I'm going to be honest, I'm going to say it, it was the European man who created this problem. European man invented the gun. Then he made a bigger gun, and he said: 'I'm gonna keep this big gun for myself, and I'm gonna sell this small gun to you." And ever since then, he's been keeping the big guns, and selling the small guns. So everybody's got guns but none as big as him. And I'm through with it. I'm blind in one eye from Vietnam. If you want to die for this garbage game, that's your fault. I'm through."
As a former gun-owner, I still feel conflicted about this issue but have managed to get along just fine without a firearm for several years now. And I'm completely perplexed by Rand Paul's latest stunt. Rand Paul again targets D.C. gun laws with Senate amendment
A 23 year old Jersey City police officer was shot in the head and killed early this morning while responding to a robbery at Walgreens. He was shot with a gun the perpetrator took off an armed security guard at the store. This happened about four blocks from my apartment. The helicopters woke me up. I don't think I started it to affect anybody in particular, but just to have a running record, since memories of gun violence blur because of the sheer volume.
