Lildogs, we should all have to sign that contract before getting a metrocard. Very little annoys me more than rude subway riders.
However I doubt that that is an unpopular opinion
- I don't understand the pizazz of some "old" musicals or actors.
- I don't think the end of the world is anywhere NEAR present time (but that just may be wishful thinking)
- I hate the sound of colloquialisms.
- I think those that try to use philosophy to back up their arguments (but don't really understand it) aren't as intelligent as they claim to be.
- I don't understand poetry at all and sometimes don't see the point of it.
- ^ Same with some genres of music ^
- I hate english, but am very obsessive of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- I like Diet Vanilla Coke.
- I absolutely abhor the taste of coffee, but LOVE the smell.
- I like the smell of gasoline.
- I don't think everyone should be so immersed in the advertisement of voting.
- I was once Pro-Bush.
- Some PG-13 movies are MUCH more disturbing that R-rated movies.
Can we confess things, too?
I think JAX said this, but, yes. Even with the lack of connection to the users here, I do feel the need to be accepted. I also say that I don't dress to impress anyone, but I only say that because I wish I had SOME sort of fashion sense.
Someone earlier said something along the lines of "If you join the military and you get hurt you signed up for it get over it." Part of me agrees with this because it is part of the job, but I would never wish that on someone. Although to go along with it, if your child signs up for the military and they get hurt or worse it is not your place to complain and cause a stink or make their death the basis of your political outcry. They are not their to speak so don't put words in their mouths. It is an insult to their memory. They were not drafted, they made that decision to put their lives in potential harms way. (This is coming from someone whose husband could be called back to active duty and whose brother in law is in Iraq right now).

At the risk of turning this into a brawl about one thing, there is one distinction I would like to make about military service. Yes, it is true that voluntary service means accepting certain risks. BUT, the contract is not a 'one-way' deal. The trade off is that you will only be put in harms way for justifiable and legitimate reasons.
As history has shown, that is not always the case - and that puts a slightly different light on the subject.
Now, this is probably a popular opinion, but I'm not sure.
I hate musicians who get onto the train and play guiter, sing, etc. I especially hate the mariachi bands who think it's cute to play like it's Puerto Vallarta at 7am.
Does anyone actually enjoy watching these people? I give them props for trying to earn a bit of change, but i find it so irritating.
You gotta love the old Asian guy who plays Ode to Joy in Penn Station, Love!
Your new pic rocks, btw!
What's with the guys that walk through the subway cars trying to sell bootleg DVDs? Does anyone actually buy them? Everytime I see those people, I think of that Seinfeld episode with the Elaine dance.
DG, I agree with you about the just cause thing, but as you said, history has shown that to not always be the case. When you go in to the military you should know that you are basically becoming an asset or a strategic "device" to be used as the government sees fit. Is it fair? No. Is it pretty obvious? Yes. There is no right or wrong, nor need for a debate or brawl. It is just an opinion that as the thread says is unpopular. Mainly this is directed at Cindy Sheehan. She just rubbed me the wrong way. But that is another thread and another opinion. (if somethings seems incoherent in my posts today I just gave blood and am a little woozy so bear with me )
People do buy those bootlegs, believe it or not. Gotta love the ones who sell the 12 AA batteries for a buck.
Lildogs- LMAO i totally know that Asian guy. There's also a group of teens who always breakdance in Grand Central, but that's more acceptable to me.
Thanks, re: my pic, btw.
I'm with Aigoo on coffee and the smell of gasoline.
PETA is not a good organization. They firebomb animal testing clinics. Yes,there shouldn't be animal testing, but they are just killing the animals inside the clinics they bomb anyway. Violence isn't the answer, PETA.
When I lived in Astoria, there was an old blind guy who played the accordion and all he knew was the theme from The Godfather...
"Your contributions are greatly appreciated." And you can't beat "battery one dollar" guys...but I miss the candy lady who used to be on the M train--she had everything, including sour cherries!

Blogs are stupid.
Christianity is fine, but Christians are a--holes mostly.
Rap "music" can be very ugly, hurtful, and demeaning.
It's OK to be alone with your own thoughts sometimes and not always necessary to talk on your cell phone if you have a moment of free time.
People who talk loudly on their cell phones on public transit should be fined $50 and jailed for a night after their third offense.
I love my Metro-North commute. It makes that subway commute seem absolutely barbaric.
I also don't mind music in Grand Central or any other station, in a walk-through area. On the platform or in the cars is beyond rude because there is no getting away from it - we didn't pay $2 to be forced to listen to live music, good or bad. I might have a migraine, or need to study, or just want to read my book.
I hate cell phone abuse.
Also, when people get cute with their ringtones. It is NOT cute to have some annoying electronic version of a Beethoven symphony. Some ringtones that sound like real music are fine, but if you can't afford those phones, just use a normal ring.
I left my gun in Texas...I thought it would get lonely in NYC.
What about your 8-inch fully loaded? I hope you didn't leave that behind...
People over the age of 12 who can't form a proper sentence shouldn't be allowed to post on message boards.
Everyone should speak English. If English is your first language, you should learn Spanish, French, etc.
Censorship is almost never acceptable. It is in certain cases, though, such as promoting violence.
People who tell me to stop using the word fag need to shut the **** up. I'm gay, the word is what I make it.
Homeless people should never be given money.
Veterans do not deserve my automatic respect.
I heart this thread, but only read the first two pages and then some of this page.
I dispise cell phones and cell phone salesmen even thought I own one and I sell cell phones. It's a deceitful, dirty business. Much more dirty than an Arbys kitchen, in different ways.
Julia Roberts can not act.
Halle Berry didn't deserve s**t for Monster's Ball and she isn't the first black woman to win best actress. She's the first mixed race woman to win.
Coldplay and U2 are terrible.
Jesus was black and a hippie and a liberal and most likely smoked pot.
But you like the people who like U2, riiight Carl?
I too agree that everyone in the US should speak English.
I don't believe in sex before marriage (or equivalent commitment)
I think Hanson is one of (if not the) best band around.
I think Chad Michael Murray is actually a good actor.
I think Desperate Housewives is incredibly overrated.
I think every school (public or private) should have uniforms.
I don't "get" Johnny Depp.
I'm a 32 year old gay man, and have never had any desire to do drag.
I'm a 32 year old gay man, and Neil Diamond is one of my favorite singers.
Star Trek: Enterprise should not have been cancelled.
Good one, SorryGrateful...blogs ARE stupid. Why would I read about your day, your opinions, or your innermost feelings if you're not your friend? And if I am your friend, you should be telling me all those things anyway. Why do you need to post them on the internet for all the world to see, then constantly bug me every week with, "Have you checked my blog?"

I don't understand why "Grey's Anatomy" is so good and why I can't wait until it's on. Is it just that it fits snugly into the wedge between "Scrubs" and "ER", avoiding the cute surrealism of the one and the hyped-up melodrama of the other?
I love blogs for a million different reasons. You can keep up to date with everyone easily. It's awesome when you leave town because you can still know what everyone is up to. Also, if everyone is busy and you're bored on a weekday night, reading up on your friends makes you feel happy and fills the time. You can share pictures easily, vent out your emotions (sometimes it is so nice to just write things down and it feels good to have others read it), you can quickly poll your friends on things, share documents, etc. etc. Perhaps my favorite thing is that I am keeping a record of my life. I can look back and see what day I did something or read back about how I used to be or what I did someday. When I started dating my current boyfriend, he read waaayyyyyyyyy back in my Xanga and learned all about my recent past. How would I ever get someone to know all of that, with so much detail and so much ease?
I LOVE MY XANGA!
