Trick question! They would have been Merely Unwatchable, but if you did watch them, they were Excruciating.
Or, just plain boring.
I ended up switching to the repeat of the Mel Brooks interview for a while and going back and replaying the winners via Tivo.
I loved the part in the opening when Harry Connick Jr. was bobbing his head up and down like a near-sighted cat trying to read the teleprompter. Then they brought up the platform with the "stars" standing awkwardly and blinking into the light. That's my special Tony memory.

I dvr-ed thru the commercials and that show was still the longest week of my life.
Ok, is there an awards show that is NOT boring or excruciating or merely unwatchable? What is the point of this thread?

The deletions by the moderators was much more interesting!
...but Namo rocks!

You're right VB, I generally don't watch them at all. It was an experiment for me because I didn't care about anything that was nominated, so I didn't really have a "horse in the race."
And it let me see why the rest of the world doesn't give a turd about Broadway.
It was also fun when the announcer hyped the Phantom number before the commercial break, only to have that fall flat. The only moments of life I saw were the numbers for Drowsy Chaperone, Pajama Game, and Wedding Singer - and I previously had no interest in any of those shows!
Not any more excruciating than it has been for about the last decade.
The only thing more excruciating than the show were all those commercials for cholesterol and prostate drugs. Does anyone REALLY suffer from "weak stream"?
hey it was 10 times better then the year amy irving and antony hopkins hosted

a dull theater award show is like a theater message board without drama.

I guess I'll take your word for it. Whatever the hell word that's supposed to be.
There appears to be more than a word at issue here. But, not bad typing for a cow.

How sad for all of you.
Well, not really - I could care less.
Our experience on the 'wrong coast' was fu*king fantastic.
Sorry yours wasn't.
Well, not really.
it wasn't the best, but I still enjoyed it. But then again two of my favorite shows were in it, Sweeney and Drowsy so I "had a horse in the race", of course both fell short of the top prizes, but I was really exicted for Beth Leavel, whom I just adore, so that was really nice.
The performances were good, better than some other years, but it was missing a little extra something...maybe because usually I like more than 2 shows in a season...
was it just me or were there more ads than usual?
I loved the "come to Philly ads". Y'all come see me some time.
It was worth it to watch the people whom truly got excited by winning, but it was v-e-r-y, v-e-r-y l-o-n-g
I loved the Tonys! Updated On: 6/12/06 at 10:07 AM
