SoMMS...I was so mortified to come from Philly.

I didn't even watch this year! I was being phoned reports from the Roundabout Tony party.

I don't know how the show itself was...but I'm so grateful for the amount of angst on display on the On Topic board over Sweeney Todd losing I'm tempted to call it the BEST AWARDS EVER!!!

I think the main board is the best thing ever today.
Frankly, there are awards I wish had gone another way...but, come on, guys. It's a set of awards for people I daresay most of us here DO NOT KNOW. Lord. Build a bridge and get over it.

Pish, Papa. Knowing you, you probably take some kind of sick pride when a friend loses. tony show: excruciating or merely unwatchable?
The only person I knew nominated this year won, so I was happy. All the other awards...well, they might not have fallen the way I'd have voted or wanted but they don't change the way I feel about the shows I've seen this year. Although, after seeing a certain Tony performance last night, I am so glad I have not seen a particular show. If that's the best number they could use to represent their show, ick poo.

I find the level-headedness of this thread watchable and the insanity of the main board excruciating! lol

I guess it's groovy that people are passionate and intense about theatre, but good GRIEF! If this had been a futbol game they would have been rioting and charging the field when Manoel lost. Then, sacrificing players when Hal Prince dared to not stop production to accept his award. It's madness!

And no offense to the talented young man, but was there ANYONE except a few people here that thought Manoel Feliciano was going to win?

I love Mano, he's talented and will sure to be up for another award soon, but does him not winning a Tony deminish his talent, no...will it stop me from still enjoying and hailing his performance, no. So in the end it's just an award and I wasn't holding out much hope that he'd win it. I was more shocked that Jim Dale didn't win, just for the sheer fact that he's Jim Dale. Everyone that won was talented and deserved it, (even if I think my favorites might have deserved it a little more).

The main board is giving me such a headache today (even more so than usual). I can spend about 2 minutes over there before I feel the need to make myself a cocktail.

It was like all televised awards shows, you start out with great expectations then about 45 minutes in you realise this is dull, but you keep watching just in case something wonderful happens. After three hours of viewing, it dawns on you that you've had maybe 20 minutes of entertainment. Strange thing is chances are you watch again next year.
