Phyllis, I'm with you. I think many people have weird expectations for True Blood, if all the arguining about last season (and the season before, for that matter) as well as this premier are an indication. I just find it a lot of fun--as Alan Ball has said, he just wants to make an enjoyable, pulpy romp--it's not Shakespeare. (Then there are those fans who bitch and moan that it's not close enough to the books--guess what, I read two of the books and the show vastly improves them).
As for Tara, it makes sense to vamp her. Tara has gone through SOOO much awfulness year in and out, arguably more than any other character on the show, and while she handled it fairly strongly she was tgurning into a bit of the eternal victim. This reverses all that and gives her something new to do.
Also, those flashbacks where Anna and Rutina did the voices for the younger actors playing them was a little weird.
Jordan, I haven't forgotten about Meloni. I wonder when his first appearance will be. And I wonder when my beloved Russell will return.
I state again that I hope we've seen the last of Hotshot and its inhabitants, but I fear the before season's end we're going to have a bunch of underage pregnant werepanther girls to deal with.
I hope Ball and team realized how hated the whole Hotshot/Jason's raped for seemingly endless number of episodes, thing was and they just drop it, but... (These are the kinda story threads I could see the new headwriters replacing Ball next year picking up, unfortunately).
We already heard Meloni, looks like we'll see him this week.
Yeah, and since the seasons usually take place over a short period of time (season four only takes place over a few weeks, right?), I figure that even if it seems like it's gone, it could rear it's ugly head at any time, since not that much time as has passed. But yeah, I hope they drop it and forget it, too.
When I try to keep track of how long each season is meant to be in "show time", it's even more ridiculous everythign they go through in such a short time (granted they had that year break when Sookie was in Faerie Land between seasons 3 and 4...)
I think I've bitched about this before, but it bugs me that the show goes to the trouble of setting up the "vampires have to be invited in" rule and then completely undercuts it by letting them glamour humans into doing it.
Yeah you do, but it takes about 20 mins--I like it because I can link it to my Tv and just watch on there--I tend to suffer from extreme ADHD when watching things on my computer.
That had to be one of the worst episodes of the series. Emma turning into a werewolf puppy with pajamas on was stupid. And The Authority stuff towards the end was way too drawn out. I never thought Chris Meloni could be boring as a vampire but he was. Last week it was better than the Tonys. This week not so much.
Agreed. Extremely boring episode. I really don't like the direction the show has taken. Too many characters and storylines - most having nothing to do with each other - and none all that interesting. Chris Meloni's debut was a big yawn.
I think this weeks episode was one of those that we needed to have in order to push the plot to wherever it's going. It wasn't great it wasn't awful, it was what it was.
