I can hardly wait for this momentous occasion. Although my family lives in California where the wine is just so-so, Wal mart wine will be a step up for me.
Well, now I know where I'm going to get all my wine.
That is, if I was able to drink.

Wait, are they selling Wal-mart BRAND wine or just wine?

Wal-Mart has retailed wine for some time now.
And JG, it's not a house label - although, certainly not 'high-end.'
Strawberry Hill I would imagine. lol sigh. Reminds me of my freshman year of college.

Goodness knows what they sell in the country in general, but here in California, it's the usual suspects of lower end varietal labels (as well as the jugs, of course.)
Wal-Mart and wine do not belong in the same sentence. I can't imagine what Wal-Mart wine tastes like...
It'll probably be like wine coolers...only with a big Wal-Mart label stuck on it.
Now, if Target made wine...that would be interesting.

Let me re-iterate: Wal-Mart has been selling wine here in California for some time. And it's the usual suspect lower end varietals. If you get something less than that (like the disparagingly referred to wine-coolers,) it's a reflection on your demographic, not Wal-Mart.

Target sells the wine cubes...
Mmmm, wine in a box.

I've slurped wine out of a box before, but it wasn't sold retail . . .
Nevermind.

haha..I know. Classy, right? But it's actually pretty good.
200 years from now, a walmart 2006 will still sell for about $ 9.99, marked down from $ 12
BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Wal-Mart announced that they will soon be offering customers a new discount item: Wal-Mart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with E&J Gallo Winery of California to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $2-$5 range.
Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts, but "there is a market for cheap wine", said Kathy Micken, VP of Marketing. She said, "But the right name is important."
Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal-Mart brand. The top surveyed names in order of popularity are:
10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Championship Riesling
6. NASCARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2. Grape Expectations
And the Number One name for Wal-Mart wine:
1. Nasti Spumante
Depending on the state's liquor laws, lots of Wal-mart stores carry wine. It's usually the cheaper brands. You won't find Dom there, but you can at Sam's, I think. Many carry full liquor selections.
PJ--I was sent that same list in an email a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty hilarious!
2-5$ wine from Wal Mart? I can't even begin to imagine what that piss is going to taste like. Maybe this will inspire a movie, "Days of Wine and Mullets."

Actually, I have had the two buck chuck at TRader Joe's and it isn't all the bad. Wine isn't sold in stores like that in CT. We have to go across the border into MA for that.
Nasti spumante...genius...

Pinot Greasio.
Well, they already sell knives, guns and other weapons, so this seems like the next logical step. I still feel bad for the stuffed deer they have propped up in my local Wal-Mart.
