I know we won't find out for a while about Company, but I'm so eager to know their cast.

OH same here. Any dream casts??
I wonder if anyone from the Broadway cast will do the tour? I'd love for Nikki to play Bobbi. Wonder if Jeff would join her if that happens? Carolee as Joanne?

Looks like The Wiz revival is launching a 2023 tour before its 2024 Broadway engagement!

I find it crazy that we’ve heard nothing about a tour of “Music Man”… even without it’s leads, it will sell on the road to subscribers… MM hasn’t toured since the last revival in 2000…
My guess is Music Man is waiting until they close to announce. Norm Lewis is touring with a Soliders Play, he led Music Man at the Kennedy Center… maybe something like that could be in play for the road?

But we do know that not every show that’s a big seller will go on the road, right? We’ve acknowledged this. I doubt Music Man will tour bjt that’s just my thought.

Music Man seems expensive and logistically challenging to tour. There would have to be an advance team going out to cast, contract and rehearse the children (plus chaperones, swings, etc) for every stop of the tour.
Not that it hasn’t been done before, though.
Any more info about the Networks Peter Pan tour? Is there a casting call yet?

Tours with kids in the cast travel with the same group of kids. They don’t cast new ones in every city. WAITRESS would cast a local child to play Lulu in every city, but that was because the role had such little stage time and didn’t require much rehearsal for the child.
A community theatre in Central Illinois just announced it is doing Music Man in August. No idea if they are using the new revised version. But it does suggest no tour

Does it though? There’s a production of into the woods happening at paramount in aurora in February, but that’s not stopping the upcoming tour of the same show.

This whole "someone somewhere in the country is doing this show = X professional production MUST not be happening" thing doesn't seem to hold up very well at all. Maybe it once did, but not anymore.
A community theatre doing Music Man in the middle of nowhere (no offense to Central Illinoisans) now means that no tour is happening? Give me a break. Into the Woods at Signature Theater, a well-known professional regional theatre, is closing less than one month before the tour opens 6 miles away at the Kennedy Center! Parade is currently holding Broadway auditions despite there being a 3-day regional production in south Jersey. This whole notion just doesn't seem to be a thing anymore!

I'm not sure-again, just because a show does well on Broadway does not automatically translate into a tour. I don't think we'll be seeing a lot of tours of shows currently running on Broadway. I think Into The Woods is an exception to this.

The touring market, especially next year, is in need of well known titles and big splashy revivals. The Music Man fits that mold to a T. It’s more likely to tour than not. If they want any chance to sell season packages that include Company or A Strange Loop, they’re gonna need something like the Music Man.
Next season so far really is highlighted by Company, A Girl From The North Country, The Wiz for select cities, and Mrs Doubtfire…
I think there is definitely a market out there for Music Man to tour and recoup its Money.
For selfish sake in Boston, we still haven’t gotten Frozen or the Moulin Rouge tour. Add in Company, A Girl From The North Country, and Music Man and that will sell many tickets I think.

The Central Illinois production may not mean a thing for the tour. The same company did have the rights to Annie pulled several years ago (10?) due to an Annie tour which was happening 60 miles away!
I'm curious whether the license is for the new revised version. When I did Sweet Charity (mumbledy years ago), I was given the option of the book/score for the original Broadway or one of the revivals.

I definitely see Frozen making its way to Boston-it's doing so well on tour that I can't imagine it won't make its way to cities it has not yet gone to. I can't remember, but even if it was there before I think it would be like Wicked and revisit venues. I think MR! will also make it's way there, as well as Company and the shows you listed. But I just don't know about The Music Man. Remember other shows with big names and how people would constantly ask if those people would also be on tour? If people in the Broadway casts would be going on tour? If someone thought Hugh Jackman or someone would be in the tour and then he wasn't-which is highly likely-don't you think there would be VERY disappointed subscribers?

No one was curious where Bette Midler was for Hello Dolly. I don’t think that’s an issue. They can likely get a decent Broadway name for Harold Hill a la Richard Thomas for TKAM. I think it’s more if they can get that name/want to invest.
MJ is also touring next year as well, which should sell like hot cakes nationwide.

Oh yes MJ will definitely do well, but Dolly still had a big name, from what I remember. Do you think they can honestly get a big name for MM?? I also have not heard anything anywhere about a tour happening. I think by now or next week we should know, but I don't see it touring. And thats okay. I can think that. Why is everyone so insistent that I can't think this??

Hm. I'm curious about casting for MJ and Funny Girl!! I truly did not think it would tour-I was obviously wrong.

Exciting season for Atlanta! So is Funny Girl most likely the mystery show coming to Detroit as well? I don’t think the tour has been announced yet.

It hasn't! It seems like Atlanta is the only city that knows about it right now, which makes me think the announcement is sometime this week? It'd be odd to have a season announced but not an official announcement from the show, on Playbill, etc.
