Given the recent trend of getting all Pulitzer winners to Broadway, do you think this will transfer? For those who have seen it, will it work on a larger stage?

I'm shocked Stereophonic wasn't even a finalist - no shade to these shows!

I'm not sure how the finalists are chosen - it's only five people and I guess they sit in a room and decide together? - but I sense that often, the two finalists are plays that maybe weren't even second or third choice, but rather plays that flew somewhat under the radar that the voters want to bring attention to. Stereophonic is going to win the Tony Award, and The Comeuppance (which was also shortlisted I'm sure) won the Lortel Award, so I'm guessing the voters felt those plays have received enough recognition already.

I hope it does transfer.
Also would love to see a Bway production of Fairview
The 5-person jury only selects the 3 finalists and submits them to the Pulitzer Board. The Board then has a discussion on the finalists which is followed by a vote to decide the winner. The Board can also vote to select an entry that wasn't made a finalist by the jury, or it can vote to not give an award at all. The last time that happened was 2006.

Next to Normal is an infamous instance of the Pulitzer board making its own choice- it wasn't on the jury's shortlist that year at all, and there was some backlash to it winning.

In that case I am surprised the Stereophonic and The Comeuppance were not the two other finalists. Maybe the voters wanted to, to some extent, make the Pulitzer Prize for Drama this year not just another theatre award echoing the same sentiments as the other award bodies.

I would love to see Fairview brought back to a local stage, but I have trouble imagining how it could work or remain as impactful in a Broadway-sized house.

It looks like you called it.
Primary Trust is an interesting choice from my perspective, based on how much I straight up disliked it. Giving a 38-year-old interpersonal relationship challenges that would make more sense for a 18-year-old, I found exhausting to listen to.

Off course we have no idea if they were even submitted this year.

They will have to change the part at the end, where
They ask all white identified audiences to come on stage. At least that's what happened when I saw it at Woolly Mammoth in DC.

I loved the show.
I think it would be swallowed in a Broadway house.
I want to see public obscenities come to broadway as I missed it
I loved rooting for Kenneth in Primary Trust. It felt so quiet and his character stayed with me for weeks after seeing it at the Laura Pels last Spring. I am happy for Eboni Booth and look forward to seeing it again. I think I may make a fall foliage trip and catch it at Barrington Stage where it is playing 9/18 - 10/13/24. Casting TBA.

Or, they just voted for what they liked the most. Stop overthinking things.

Yes, it would work on a larger stage. Or at least in my opinion it doesn’t require intimacy to work. While William Jackson Avery was wonderful (and I’m a fan of his from The Good Place) the Pulitzer for the play is a big head scratcher. I didn’t think that the ending was earned in any way.
I just saw the production of "Primary Trust" at the Goodman here in Chicago and .... I was not a fan. Maybe it was the production? Looking at the Roundabout production, I much prefer that set. This one was very cartoony almost. And the staging was just kind of bland and uninteresting. I just wasn't rooting for any of the characters. And the writing felt both slight and almost amateur. Just a head scratcher for me. Almost saw the production at the Seattle Rep, which I kind of wish I had to just compare the two.
