I enjoy Hamilton… but so what who cares 10 years … all it did for me was say out loud… everyone’s gotten old"
As annoyingly hyped as it was (really? There's a Hamilton performance coming? Has it been mentioned 50 times already?), it was there for the ratings, and it appears justified.
Of the show clips on Youtube, Cynthia's opening number currently has 125k views, Groff has 52k, DBH has 48k, MHE has 46K...
The Hamilton performance has 305k and growing. It's definitely still a thing.

The most frustrating thing about the Maybe Happy Endingsweep was the lack of recognition for Helen J. Shen. The nominating committee could remember James Monroe Iglehart, but couldn’t give Shen a nomination? She will certainly be nominated in the future, but she deserved the recognition this season."
I wish the nominating committee had found a way to nominate Helen J. Shen because she’s a big part of that show’s success - and her role isn’t as easy as she made it look. But as that didn’t happen, last night went rather well for her. Shen sounded and looked as wonderful as ever in the Maybe Happy Ending performance, she got a shoutout from her Tony-winning co-star during his speech, her show swept every other major category, and she’s an above-the-title star in this year’s Best Musical.
Not bad for a Broadway debut.

No, they really couldn't have. RWHC's number was 2 minutes and 28 seconds. Just in Time ended at 2:38. A major problem with most of the numbers were that they were so rushed. RWHC in particular could have used more time to breathe and come off less frantic. (For those who think they should have done the title song, it clocks in at 3:46. How were they supposed to do that and provide the necessary context for why these women are taking their clothes off so it didn't seem exploitative?)
Those non-nominated shows also received less time than the nominated shows, most of which got three and a half minutes. Audra got 4:10.
"
Fair enough. I guess my feelings are irritation that they purposefully excludedBOOPandSMASH, both of whom were ready and willing to pay, while making room for these other two performances."

So we were at the Tony Awards, which all of our friends knew we were going to. For them it was nice we were going, but not a big deal. When they saw the Hamilton reunion was going to be included people were going crazy about it. After the performance, we got a ton of texts saying how crazy good it was and this was from people who generally never watch the Tony Awards.
Has anyone even mentioned Stokes yet? I thought he was a pretty good announcer, a nice switcheroo from ceremonies past.

All I know is she gave one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen, has given us ‘new ways to dream’ and has pushed the boundaries in terms of vocal acting and performance that yes right now in this moment even Audra wasn’t able to compete with even in the greatest of all time role star vehicle. She certainly gave me some new ways to dream nightmares of self-indulgent bad acting, not unsimilar to Patti Lupone's Mama Rose that I found to be flat and craft-less.

We heard you the first 64 times you trolled us about hating both of these performances.
And both won countless prestigious awards this year.
They both somehow survived your BS, believe it or not! What a concept!
Get over it.

I’m assuming this is in reference to the joke they made in the press room. Nicole won and Sam Pinkleton said “the speculation is over!” and Cole said “four more years.”
It was a ****ing JOKE that has nothing to do with the hat debacle. They were JOKING, comparing a presidential election to the competitiveness of the Lead Actress category this season.
Not everything is “shade” or some undercover political statement.
My lord…
Cole was right. Let the states decide.
Oprah was only there to stir up trouble. Shame on her. The "feud" between Patti and others should have never been brought up. Oprah thought she was going to show up to hand the award to Audra.
Producing Two Broadway shows is not a great contribution. There are dozens of Producers who have done more.

So we’re at the point where people are making things up and then getting pissy about them?

Congrats to Maybe Happy Ending. Not too shabby for a show that had everyone like, "It's about...what?" when it was first announced.

Anyone know where to watch the Act One preshow? Or at least where to find Celia’s speech? It doesn’t seem to be available on Pluto anymore, or paramount plus.

Keep digging and soon you'll find Jeremy Jordan in the great Sand Cave.
Do you think the producers of the telecast said "We know you only want to be on the show to stir up trouble. We'll happily let you do that, but the price for doing so is being in two bits with Cynthia Erivo"? Some of the players involved clearly wanted her to be a part of the show.
Nothing you are suggesting is grounded in anything close to reality and I doubt very few others producers (to address your response) have the worldwide recognizability or star power of Oprah.

My husband and I watched from beginning to end and we both agreed it was a very well put together show. One thing that I felt could have been improved were the choices of songs picked to be performed by the casts of the musicals. For many of these shows, this is the only chance they have to give the TV audience a feel for what their show is about. If the right song is performed, it could make people want to see the show and especially if they will be in NYC visiting. I think MHE, BVSC, OMM and Pirates chose well. Dead Outlaw and Floyd Collins in my opinion, did not.

Gee, I thought her comment was strictly about "us" debating whether Audra or Nicole would win. I didn't take it as ANYTHING related to Patti at all

I find that sometimes a full day or two needs to pass before the recorded show appears and am hoping that is the case here with Pluto.

Tony Awards Up 38% From 2024 To Draw Best Audience In 6 Years On CBS
And...that's why they had Hamilton perform. (Though perhaps Erivo's Wicked popularity helped?)
"The 78th Annual Tony Awards delivered its largest broadcast audience in six years on Sunday night.
The 2025 ceremony, hosted by Cynthia Erivo, boasted 4.85M viewers on CBS, per live + same-day Nielsen data. That’s up 38% over last year’s audience of 3.53M.
At just over three hours long, the telecast also drew the largest streaming audience ever for Paramount+, parent company Paramount Global touted Monday afternoon. Apparently, viewership on the streamer was up 208% year-over-year, though actual numbers were not disclosed."
Woah, I was not expecting such a jump. But I think there were a number of things working in favor for that this year: Erivo and the Wicked wave, a number of shows having big success on social media (it may not reliably translate to ticket sales, but going from TikTok to watching the Tonys makes sense to me), Hamilton’s reunion, competitive categories, and a higher profile season overall.

Tony producers should send Patti flowers for shaking things up and bringing a little bit of drama and talk to the show that not a lot of people watch. Even Oprah showed up to give Tony to Audra.
