No. The orchestra was on stage in the same spots as HK. I'm guessing Hell's Kitchen is using the pit for something else?"
I was seated in a partial view spot, house right, and didn't see any orchestra members onstage...
Were they all situated on stage left?

Were there other OBCs at the ACL 50th Anniversary?
They had the ten OBCs "On The Line" with their headshots after the opening number. Baayork, Lopez, Donna McKechnie, Kelly Bishop, Wayne Cilento, Scott Allen, Donna Drake, Brandt Edwards, Patricia Garland and Michael Serrecchia. Were there any other OBCs at the Shubert last night but couldn't make it on stage?

There were a few, so I guess the rest were in the pit? I believe I counted a 17 member orchestra.

I haven’t seen Hell’s Kitchen, so I’m not sure how it’s normally set up for them. It looks like there is space for 2 musicians on each sides of the stage on 2 levels. Only the piano section in the upper right section was in use. I think there were additional musicians behind the screens upstage as I could see someone on the right side behind the screens peeking out occasionally.

So disappointed. It’s basically Simard standing behind a mic stand and wearing a floor length halter-top gown. Zero “performance.” Based on what a few said, I thought she was in costume and giving a Val character performance. Nope. Just her standing behind the mic stand and just singing the song.

Her performance was hilarious. She may have just stood behind the mic, but it was definitely not “just singing the song.”

It was Simard being Simard doing her interpretation of the song. It was similar to what Nikki Snelson did when auditioning for the revival and she was cut. Simard couldn't have used a handheld mic as should wouldn't have been able to utilize her boobs as her props. Curious who they approached to do the song and if Simard was their first choice? The character of Val isn't there auditioning with her new "assets" to show off as a sexy, young dancer. She's been doing this for awhile and wasn't landing jobs, so she had to make a change, physically, to get them. Sheila did not, and hence why Val gets the job over Sheila.

^ This sounds curious. Why, in front of an audience of people who know what the show can be, would they get someone to give a half-baked, diluted version of the show’s most comedic number? Sounds fine for a “hits from the musicals” night at the community theatre but a missed opportunity for an anniversary like this.
Get a Jimmy award winner or someone from the last tour to really give it what it needs rather than someone semi famous to hardly do it.
“Dance Ten” worked perfectly for me, I laughed my ass off watching her do it, as did pretty much the rest of the theater.

I didn't have an issue with it. Everything last night was blown up and enhanced in various ways. 4 guys doing "I Can Do That ". 8 Cassies plus Donna doing "Music and the Mirror ". But I think some people assumed playing Val like that is how it should be done in a fully staged version.
Also surprised I haven't found a bootleg of that number yet. The other numbers are all floating around on the socials already.
Darn it, I want to see the Simard performance and judge for myself. "Dance:10; Looks: 3" is my favorite number in the score. I've loved it from the first moment I heard it on the Original Broadway Cast Album. I was 10 years old and I thought, not only is this number funny, but it was "out there" for a song in a Broadway musical. I wasn't at all familiar with "HAIR" yet.
And yes, I liked the performance in the otherwise flawed movie version. Audrey Landers did a fine job with the song.

I love the smell of ad hominem on a Monday!
I've tried posing what I own. Marquee from 50 years ago. Send message if interested.

He probably showed up to the Schoenfeld and got confused and went to the gym.
There are many clips of the whole night out on various social media platforms from the wings and house - including Simard's partial and full performance. If you weren't there, you basically can feel like you were at this point.

It was still so magical being in the Shubert last night with those originals back on stage. All of the surprises, all of the emotions, all of the chatter leading up to it. Just watching the videos doesn't give you that. I'm so happy I was able to be there.
Nice to see the Harp part (and, I think, guitar part?) reinstated for this. In the ‘07 revival both were added to the new Keyboard 2 & 3 books.

I soured on Jennifer simard this year. Most of what she says in Death Becomes her is unintelligible. It’s the same comedy schtick and voice she does pretty much every time she’s on stage now. And then she put up a go fund me to get some big car to take her to the Tony’s. She said her gown was so big she needed more space. But her dress was basic and ugly and not big at all. Probably just a grift.

Not as ugly as you, I'm sure.
Indeed. This enormous gown definitely needed a Go Fund Me. It also definitely needed a team of 6 to help her get around. How do those celebrities in crazy 30 feet trains on their gowns manage at the Met Gala?! It’s sheer insanity.
