In his version, only the last surviving person auditioning gets the job."
I mean, I’m listening….

And also in that version, the dancers introduce themselves and share their experiences via live video recording.
Pre-taped auditions, amirite?
Can't wait to see EVITA (again, since the outdoor production), GODOT and our favorite MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING to date. It's pure joy.

I believe the show ends with Zach stripped down as he is beaten to death by the auditioners symbolized by paint. And then a last line is added for Cassie. "There. That's One!"

I was really jealous that I couldn’t be there tonight until I realized that I could spoil The Gilded Age for all of you lucky b^tches 😆
have fun!!!!!!
Well that was everything and more!! The best night I've ever spent in a Broadway theater.
While I wait for my train
Outside of some minor sound issues, that was outstanding. Highlights:
- ten original cast members came forward for "The Line" with their headshots.
- Kelly Bishop started "At The Ballet"
- Donna started "Music and the Mirror" which ended have 8 Cassies dance the number.
- Priscilla Lopez did "Nothing"
- Baayork Lee introduced "Montage"
- The Finale consisted of every listed dancer in the program which included members of the revival cast on stage while others filled the aisle(those were the aisle dancers".
- Jennifer Simard did "Dance Ten: Looks Three "
- Leigh Zimmerman, Krysta Rodriguez and Jessica Vosk did "At The Ballet"
- Ariana DeBose lead "What I Did For Love".
- the "In Memoriam" was done with the overture that's never been performed before.
- lots of speeches, ran just over 2 hours, no announcement of a upcoming anniversary revival.

Thanks for that rundown ACL. Was there any inside baseball chat/memories/fun facts shared throughout? Or were the speeches the only unscripted part?
Simard almost stole that WHOLE damn show tonight. I hope she ices those boobs, she banged the hell out of them tonight.

The fact that there was an overture done ( widely rumored) to be revealed and played tonight for the first time was a surprise.
Wayne Cilento revealed he would out dance Bennett during the workshops.
Baayork said their first run through at The Public that it was 4 hours long and the cast got together after to decide who's monologue would get cut which eventually turned into the "Montage" as we know it.
I was aware of the four known Cassies(Hurder, Goldyn, d'Amboise and Sarah Bowden) but there were four others that joined Goldyn for a section and I'd assume they were from the last non-equity tour?
Also, John Breglio talked about how people always say they want the show updated and his response was basically “never”. So that made me happy.

And Michael did attempt to change the show when it was on tour in the 80s and it didn't work.

There will be. I saw a few phones out recording at certain parts tonight.

When he talked about a revival (before he got to the updating part) someone yelled out “definitely!” and he just said “eh” which I found disappointing since that made it sound like he wasn’t interested in doing one anytime soon
I didn’t hear what they yelled but yeah it didn’t seem something they were doing anytime soon which is a shame. If tonight left me with anything at all it’s the desire to see a full production on Broadway again.
Also, there were no merchandise for sale. Anyone taking part in this had tshirts and we could see them entering the Shubert stage door wearing them. A lot of people were asking the ushers or the bartenders about merchandise. I would have bought one of those tshirts.

After Breglio's speech, I'm convinced we won't see another production of ACL on Broadway in it's original form. Neither him or Baayork are getting any younger. And Baayork has several assistants now.

Yes, it definitely made me want to see a full broadway revival again, and yes I would have bought merch if the had any.
there were 2 cameras set up in the back of the orchestra section. I asked an usher, he said it was for the Library

Fighting with the ticketing system for an hour was absolutely worth it. It was an amazing evening; everything I wanted it to be. I think it was a perfect tribute for the 50th anniversary.
It was wonderful to see the original cast - and getting to see Donna McKechnie and Priscilla Lopez sing their songs was a treat I was not expecting! There was an audible gasp in the balcony when Kelly Bishop put her hand on her hip and took the Sheila pose before performing her monologue.
During the show one of the speakers said that they raised over $1 million for the Entertainment Community Fund (had to Google the name because I still want to call it the Actors Fund). So a successful night for the Fund and an enchanting night for the audience!

I agree we won’t see one for quite awhile. But there could be some legalese that in order to do it on broadway, it has to be the original choreography

They’d be lucky if directors and producers and choreographers actually gave a $hit about A Chorus Line enough to want to update it. The truth is, nobody cares about the old chestnut except the die hard fans. This is another one that needs to be put away on the drawer never to be seen again for 50 years, let new generations take it in for the first time and enjoy it.
cool.
