There are announcements on several sites including this one and they all cite June 30 as the closing date. Of course, it can be moved up with more competition coming in.

Yep. Playbill cites June 30. https://playbill.com/article/broadways-a-beautiful-noise-will-close-in-june
657 performances is pretty good considering the mixed reviews it got and no Tony nominations. It'll end up the second longest running new show from the 2022-23 season.
So is this the first time that NYTIX has posted something that turned out to be real?

Or did their article cause ABN to announce their closing sooner then they were planning?
I'm not sure it has that kind of reach. The writing has been on the wall for ABN for a while.

Yes that's true but I'm curious why such an extended closing date? If it's doing so poorly shouldn't that date be at the end of March or mid April? Personally I'm exhausted by these junkbox musicals. I'm hoping an end to them at some point. I'm sure it will be a long wait, sadly.

June 30 is not an arbitrary decision. Shubert probably has something lined up for the Broadhurst with an early-fall opening, and ABN may have the funds to leg it out another 4 months. If Shubert had any need for a new show to open there this spring, ABN would have already closed.
Broadhurst is an enviable house for a midsized musical or a big play. With 1162 seats (or 1218 with all boxes and SRO positions in use), it's bigger than the typical "playhouse" (Schoenfeld, Jacobs, Belasco, etc) but not as vast as a 1400+ seat musical house (Shubert, Imperial, Winter Garden, etc), and it doesn't have a pesky balcony. I've heard some people argue that it's the best house on Broadway: you can do any type of show there, save for the biggest musicals and smallest plays.
I believe Nick Fradiani will be on vacation March 12-17. Makes me wonder if they'll get Nick on Idol to promote the show/tour before it closes on Broadway.

Every time I hear someone say that they're tired of jukebox musicals I'm gonna start writing one. These comments are more annoying than the jukebox musicals themselves.

Congrats on the run - only & Juliet lasted longer from last season.
Both had pop hit scores

I still find it hard to believe them on the budget numbers, so it might be a thing that was known a bit more widely

I find it so demoralizing that the two longest running musicals from last season are both juke box musicals. Personally, I thought ABN was terrible, with an occasional good number making it tolerable. I haven't even seen &Juliet, I have to admit, because I didn't enjoy the recording. I figured I would wait to see it when it eventually plays in Sarasota or Ogunquit...I would not waste a valuable New York trip slot on it.

I couldn't agree more. I took my mother to see it. She loves Neil and loved it. For me it was another dreadful night at the theatre. I just saw MJ {I'm late to the party for a reason} and feel the same way. Both are terrible.

I bet it does great business on the road.
Nothing wrong with giving the people what they want.
I thought it was awful but everyone around me seemed to be having a great time. Think I got more swept up with the crowd, than the show.

I agree. Didn't see it live but have a boot with Will. Couldn't watch it. Would rather listen to my Hot August Night CD.
Rushed the matinee today because it was the only Thursday matinee option. It was probably 80-85% full. The crowd seemed into it. Nick made a post-show announcement about the closing and urged the audience to “tell their friends” to come see the show. What a weird premise for a book, but the ensemble made the show. This show was not made for me, but it will play for the old folks in Peoria. It will be find success as a road show, I think.

Sad news for all involved but a respectable run for sure. It would be interesting to see if they could bring Will Swenson back to close this out since Sweeney hasn't snagged him yet,

Why would they? Will wasn't a draw, the show itself is. Plus Will talked about how exhausting the role was for him.

Was thinking the same thing about Will...why would he. He talked about how hard it was on his voice. In any event, isn't that kind of insulting to Nick?
Don't be shocked if their closing date gets pushed up. Nick has been telling the audiences lately before the Sweet Caroline encore to "come back and bring some friends". I returned today to see Amber as Marcia and the house was about 60% for a Thursday matinee. The Thursday evening was barely sold. Their advance is really sad for the final 3 months.
