Well, granted, I don't know if P Genre is to be believed and I prefer to err on the side of skepticism, but, the clues he gave seem to be pretty clear pointers to Raul.
I'd love to see Marc Kudisch as Carl-Magnus, but I'm sure he's too old for this production. that's a shame, since it seems he's played him everywhere except Broadway.
although, if Laura Benanti happens to be playing Charlotte, maybe Stephen Pasquale could play Carl-Magnus.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Funny, but if you google or look up Johns, she was known as a singer before NIGHT MUSIC, which is kinda strange. Raul deserves a break after putting up what his career has been thru, but I don't see him in this role at all. Too short.
Who is this mystery actor? I couldn't imagine them assembling a cast as exciting as the one from the Roundabout concert but this is one of the most exciting casts assembled since the Encores! FOLLIES.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
yeah, rOcKs, someone in this thread said that. I'm just hoping. although, I know people here have tossed Jenny Powers' name around, and I think she'd be a fantastic Charlotte as well.

It was both Lauras actually. The idea of Jenny Powers as Charlotte is incredibly exciting, she could follow Patricia Elliot's footsteps.

Anyone who saw SUNDAY or MERRILY at the Kennedy Center will understand this casting completely. And that was seven years and a definitive performance in a Broadway revival of a Sondheim show ago.
I was near Steve and Mia at all three shows closing weekends for the first cycle and those productions, along with MERRILY (PASSION and ALNM were a little listless) were magnificent by even his high standards from his visible appreciation. Actually, the Sweeney section in the new Suskin orchestration book is a perfect microcosm of how special and detailed all the elements of that festival were, particular the music and performances. One star shone brighter then them all, for good reason, though, proving he is the master Sondheim interpreter of his generation.
yeah, CurtainPullDowner said on page 15: "A friend of Benanti's told me she is doing a play, so unless this is a ruse, she's out."
I've only seen Jenny Powers as young Phyllis [and ray, I have to agree that this cast is shaping up to be as exciting as the Encores Follies one], but I think she'd be divine as Charlotte.

So Raul? Really? Interesting choice. He would not have been my first choice at all but I think he could work, especially opposite Winslet.

god, I'm just picturing Winslet as the most elegant, magnetic Desiree. I really hope she's doing this.

Cerveris will be working on a play as well, so he won't be involved in any capacity.
And please, everyone know that things often change and I hope I'm not getting anyone's hopes up, but I'm just genuinely excited about this production and wanted to share the info that I've been told firsthand. So again, if come casting announcement a few of the names that have been tossed around aren't involved, I really apologize, but I promise that this is reliable information in the meanwhile!
The threads we've had are providing me a lot of laughs right now. To think that I initially suggested Winslet and Powers to begin with and now both of them are on the cusp of being involved is hilarious.
In regards to Benanti, she's never been in contention as she's had a spring commitment for a while.
We will see!
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Ha, you know it. I'll always be sad that I was too young to see the Kennedy Center Sondheim Celebration. I have been told many-a time how much I would have loved it.
Again, I REALLY apologize if what I've been sharing is inaccurate come casting announcement, but I'm relying the news that I hear out of pure excitement. Here's to hoping this cast comes to reality!
