looks like it is shaping up to be a good cast. let's just hope Nunn has figured out how to direct again. it's been awhile since his stuff has worked. hopefully this material has stirred his passions enough...

Well, this is my final fingers crossing for JENNY POWERS. Please, please, please. I don't know why but ever since I saw her sing "There Won't Be Trumpets" on YouTube I have this feeling that she would be the PERFECT Charlotte.
And, of course, Kate Winslet seems all sorts of brilliant casting as well. Speculating is a lot of fun, but I can't wait to hear the official news--whatever that may be.
Its gonna be quite a season for revivals for sure.
It is, and that makes this revival-hugger very very happy.
I've been a big fan of a lot of Trevor Nunn's work in the past. His Oklahoma! is one of my favorite productions. I hope he knows what he's doing on this, too.
I too enjoyed his work on OKLAHOMA! I hope he follows suit with NIGHT MUSIC. If this cast comes through the way it may, I hope he gives us the stunning production theater-goers and this cast deserve.
Done and done! I think I just had an accident from all the excitement
I'm trying not to get incredibly excited because anything could happen, but it's so hard not to be excited about the idea of a NIGHT MUSIC revival starring Kate Winslet, Raul Esparza, Angela Lansbury, Ramona Mallory, Jenny Powers, Leigh Ann Larkin, etc etc
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
I would be suprised if La Cage won Best Revival since the show just won in 2005...I still am skeptical to believe that it is coming back to Broadway this soon.
These casting rumors are more excitement than I can bear. I've been aching to hear Kate Winslet really sing since Heavenly Creatures and was terribly disappointed that on the Sense & Sensibility soundtack they had Jane Eaglen singing the two songs Winslet sings in the movie.
Did Winslet actually sing in that? I thought the concept was that the actors were singing to other tracks. I'm not concerned about her singing, since as I said earlier, Desiree is very specifically written for a non-singer and that's how Sondheim himself likes it. Right now I'm just excited about the possibility of her in the role because she'll bring in the right combination of elegance, beauty, humor, and dramatic flair that the role requires.

Since Age is such a big deal for this show, won't Angela Lansbury be too old...or does that not matter for that role because it's an "old lady" role and all you need is an "old lady"?
According to the casting notice, Nunn was looking for a Armfeldt in her 60's-70's. But who would pass up an opportunity to have Angela Lansbury in the role?
