Although he was in the cast of Spamalot, it's not like that was riding on his shoulders. Tastes change, and returning a 10+ year old show was questionable anyways.
For this show producers didn't do much to entice audiences in early. I considered buying tickets for my visit in November repeatedly, but the price point - even with their meagre discount offer code - held me back. I ended up sitting in the orchestra for Death Becomes Her for cheaper than I could find a balcony seat for this.
This process only helps Iglehart. He’s never been a star in the ticket-selling sense (probably will never be one). He is a journeyman actor who now got to play a lead role of an iconic public figure AND had an outsized influence on the creative process to the point of being credited as a co-Director.
It's sad to hear, but I'm so surprised everybody is saying this was an expensive ticket to get or playing to filled audiences. I went to the Thursday matinee this week on a $25 student ticket, and I saw gaps in the audience, plus I got my rush ticket probably an hour after the box office opened and it was a front row, center orchestra seat. The show was fine, but nothing that struck any chords. I'd rather see Tammy Faye than spend another minute watching this at Studio 54. Hoping for Cat Jellicle Ball to enter, it would be tight but that would shake up best revival even more!

People like to point to price sensitivity as a problem for specific shows but I think that gets overblown. For some shows, the reality is that you could advertise "ALL TICKETS $40" and it still would not sell out. This show had no shortage of discounts.
their rush was very easy to get, so definitely not an expensive ticket. I'm free for their closing performance, but I'd much prefer to see James T. Lane instead.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
The front mezz of Studio 54 is truly a death trap. It's actually surprising nobody has fallen over into the orchestra. I actually like the leopard print carpet. This theatre desperately needs a long runner in there.

This theater also desperately needs a full renovation.

I’ve heard that ALW doesn’t want Sunset & Cats in the same season.

That’s not exactly a rumor. It’s been confirmed by some of the team behind CATS that ALW does not want the two going against each other given the high potential each has to be successful for him

But he’ll have Evita and Cats be in the same season? I mean, the last time sunset boulevard came to Broadway, it was the same season as the last cast revival. What exactly would a Tony do for these productions anyway? I doubt Sunset wins much at the Tony’s. Floyd Collins has a better chance at best revival at this point.
