Oh that's right. I forgot he lost. Such a competitive year.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
-Johnny Depp. Because the man is probably THE most brilliant actor I know of. And he's one of those people I have no doubt could transfer flawlessly from screen to stage Although... I think I'd kind of prefer to see him in a play rather than a musical.. though he prob can sing really well, I just think his acting is so friggin stunning in itself that any singing might actually distract from that! -Zach Braff, because how HYSTERICAL would he be!? (kinda random and off topic, but he loves loves idina. Idina on scrubs anyone? I think YES!) -Denzel Washington. Another PHENOMINAL actor who I can totally see transfering beautifully to the stage -Catherine Zeta-Jones. She NEEDS to get her butt on broadway and play Velma Kelly in Chicago :P Cause seriously, she was definitely THE best thing about the movie. Rene was a DARN close second, but Rene I actually dont think would be as amazing on stage! I dont know, there are just some people, like her and rosario dawson, who I feel like are brilliant on screen but might get a lil swallowed up on stage
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
Denzel was just on Broadway last season playing Brutus in Julius Caesar.
Zach Braff started his career at the Public Theatre not that many years ago doing Shakespeare (and has expressed a desire to return to the stage as soon as his schedule permits).
And Rosario Dawson was actually quite good on stage at the Delacorte in Central Park two summers ago starring in the musical Two Gentlemen of Verona.

Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz, Diane Keaton, Thandie Newton, Diane Lane, and Audrey Tautou.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Samantha Eggar. I think she'd be incredible as Violet in Suddenly, Last Summer.

oooh sorry bout that, def didn't know about Denzel already having done it!
I knew about Zach having done stuff at the Public, but I want him to do more
And actually I stand corrected- I realize now that I should have worded my rosario comment differently. I def would love for her to do theater and broadway and stuff- just.. not things like RENT or wicked (which was suggested at one point). I think she wouldn't be right for the stage in THOSE shows, but I'm all for her doing smaller shows, and especially plays and stuff! I bet she'd be fantastic in smaller plays and shakespear and things like that! Not that I dont adore her voice, I do, its just I do wonder about whether it'd really hold up doing any kind of belting songs 8 times a week since, as far as I know, she hasn't had any training or anything

Billy Crudup (get this man back to Broadway, he was phenomenal in The Pillowman) Kate Winslet Will Ferrell (in a good comedy) Nicole Kidman Zach Braff (I agree on this one) Hugh Jackman (I want him back on Broadway in something good)
Hey Melissa Errico Fan, Julianne Moore is starring in The Vertical Hour
"I wish the stage were as narrow as the wire of a tightrope dancer, so that no incompetent would dare step upon it." Goethe
Matt Stone and Trey Parker have been working on a musical with the composers of AVENUE Q for a while which they want to come to Broadway sometime in the very near future -- do a search.
Ewan McGregor just starred in GUYS & DOLLS in the West End as Sky Masterson. Perhaps he'll do Broadway at some point. And maybe Collette will come back since her movie career isn't keeping her particularly busy (she was very charming in WILD PARTY).
I wonder if Futterman has given up acting altogether at this point after getting an Oscar nod as a screenwriter for CAPOTE. He was quite good as Louis in ANGELS IN AMERICA back in the early 90s.
And Billy Crudup is giving a terrific performance right now as Vissarion Belinsky in COAST OF UTOPIA on Broadway at the Vivian Beaumont.

Dan Futterman is now shooting the movie "A Mighty Heart" with Angelina Jolie and he has been in TV shows for the past 6 years. He's not quiting acting but he's not often on stage. He's last performance was in 2002 in an Off-Broadway production. I hope he'll be back to the Great White Way sometime.
