AAHHH!! i'm seeing it tomorrow night too do you think i should buy tickets tonight??
there is no way it is higher then walk the line. AT ALL which makes me weary of EW now. Just does not compare.
See, this is why they're called opinions. Subjectivity. I haven't seen Walk The Line, but that's totally moot. EW isn't "wrong." You're not "wrong." Maybe you're not "right," either. OPINION.

"There’s hardly any spoken dialogue"
Did she and I see the same movie? There's plenty of spoken dialogue.
Gotta agree with you again, Emcee. At the risk of sounding crude, there's an old saying: Opinions are like ass*****, and everyone's got one.
Some just stink more than others...
RIGHT and yes it is an Opinion but I have seen both so I can comment. Once you see rent I think some of you will understand what I am trying to say, I went in wanting to come out and say wow this was awesome, I really wanted to. I waited in line for 2 hours to want to you can be assured I was excited to see this movie. It is good, IT IS, but would I lie to myself and people here and say it is deserves the best picture Oscar?? I could and would not so when something has an A- rating we are talking Oscar worthy and again yes it is my opinion but in my opinion it is not. I understand we are all passionate about rent and wanting this movie to be big (it will be with fans ALONE) but just because I am not giving it an A does not mean I am the antichrist.
I saw Rent. I loved it. I didn't think it was perfect; there's a difference. Do I think they'll win Oscars? No. But what do I know? I'll probably see Walk The Line. But my point remains that this notion that it *can't possibly* be better is ridiculous. Some people think it's better than Walk The Line. Some people don't. Of course it's *possible* in someone's mind, and clearly it was in the mind of whoever wrote the thing on EW. Call it injustice; call it subjectivity.

Karma, please chill. I think Rent is definitely oscar worthy...It should be up for best picture, as well as Crash.
What I love about Rent and Crash is that everyone is basically ensemble, and the casts are SO STRONG.
Anyway, did anyone else LOVE when everyone stood up and sang during the "I'll Cover You Reprise" That was my favorite part, the tears would not stop.
People really are so ridiculous!!!! It's astounding!
That Village Voice review was rough...while I disagree about most of the arguments they offer, I agree with certain aspects.
Please chill???? OHHH Cause we disagree I see...therefore I should stop talking...since my review of rent was mixed...point taken I will comment no more. : ) Totally laughable.
"It's a musical, so for those who dislike musicals this is not for you. The story is also dated, I mean, AIDS is not as big of a topic these days as it was back then (still very important though), and the bohemian life is sadly kind of forgotten. Luckily for me that doesn't matter because I love the 80's and I also like musicals very much."
That is the most LAUGHABLE and juvenile review I've ever read.
Oh my God.

Boy, Metromix didn't really have much good to say. Which I find really funny. It's the one part of my paper that I consistently skip through because they are completely out of touch with the reality of anyone who isn't pulling down 6 figures.
RottenTomatoes' freshness for the movie has gone from:
100%
to
90%
to
83%
to
78%
to
73%
and it is currently at 60%. 60% and above are considered "fresh". :-/

Talk about all over the place.
Much like the movie itself.
