blug, thank you for your apology, and for articulating your thoughts more thoroughly and reasonably this time. I found some of what you wrote informative, and I appreciate that.

There is clearly a lot of heavy emotion going on in this thread, and I understand and appreciate why some people get extremely passionate about the Palestine-Israel conflict. It’s horrifying.

That said, going back and reading this thread again, it’s pretty nasty. Lots of comments (not just to me) along the lines of “you’re disgusting,” etc. Why? What does this accomplish? And these comments are coming mostly from (I’m guessing) progressives who pride themselves on how empathetic and kind they are. A bit ironic.

Behavior like this is destructive and does not make for an enjoyable experience on this board - a place I have been going to for over twenty years to connect with my fellow theater nerds in an intellectually stimulating, sometimes tense, but always joyful way. But over the past couple of years, I have seen posters here get meaner, more dismissive, and less able and willing to have productive conversations (I mean, there have always been a handful of easily enraged keyboard warriors on here, but not this many).

Okay, for real this time, I am bowing out of this conversation. But can you all just be nice? You’re very unlikely to change anyone’s mind anyway, and I’m pretty sure no members of the Israeli government are reading this chat board.
