Why did she leave? I thought she was on vocal rest and coming back.
Isn't it against her contract to just "LEAVE" without giving a reason.
Why did she leave so early? I saw her twice and really enjoyed her performance.
Is she coming back to Bway soon?
yikes, I hope everything is ok with her...
Does she just not have proper vocal training? For a talented woman who consistently gets cast in rock musicals, she doesn't seem to have the stamina to actually be in them.
Hopefully she'll be able to work her vocal issues out and avoid any permanent damage.
Lizzy, did you have any inside info that Amy would leave the production? Any guesses who her replacement will be? (you seem to be "in the know" when it comes to this show...which is why i'm asking) Thanks.
Bwayspotted on Twitter is saying that Savannah Wise is in, and that Jackie Burns is leaving Hair to return to ROA. Who knows if that's actually the case, though...
Is copying and pasting links so difficult?

The producers wanted her out. She wanted out. There ya go!
Girl does not have a good reputation.

When I'm posting from my phone and not my computer, yes, it is.

Though I never saw "Rock of Ages" live, the three televised performances I saw were all awful on her part. I'm actually surprised she gets work at all. Just not a strong presence, and definitely no vocal chops.

She was good I wonder why she left. I didn't think you were allowed to just leave according to contract.
coolkid, "personal reasons" is code for the show dumped her ass.
If producers don't want you anymore, they can buy-out your portion of your contract and tell you to get the hell out. If they wanted to keep her and she wanted out, they could make her life difficult due her contractual agreement. Seems this wasn't the case.
Here's hoping they permitted her to personally take her stuff out of her dressing room instead of sending it all back to her via a messenger.
I doubt the contract specifies the reasons for leaving have to be publicized. Either the producers bought her out or she left for reasons outlined in her contract and neither party saw reason to reveal it to the press.

Amy Spanger is way too talented to be stepping foot anywhere near ROA. She deserves a role a hell of a lot better than this. I must say, what happened to her with her voice? Did she have vocal damage before this show?
Do they have to hold auditions or can they just put someone in the role?
>>too talented to be stepping foot anywhere near ROA.
Too talented for a hit show?
So are you hinting she has something better?
Am I thinking of someone else or has she done this kind of things a few times now?
I wish I'd had prior knowledge of Amy's departure but I didn't. I was cautiously optimistic that she would be returning but alas this did not turn out to be the case.
I do hope that if vocal strain was the reason for her leaving the show, that she will get the rest and care she needs as to not incur permanent damage.

Rock of Ages, Cats, Wicked, Dirty Dancing are all hit shows. That doesn't mean that they're good.

Yeah! Broadway has nothing to do with shows aimed at being popular entertainment.

Jersey Girl2, Rock of Ages isn't a hit yet. It probably will be, but not yet.
Mister Matt, I prefer watching actors do roles that showcase all their greatest talents.
"Amy Spanger is way too talented to be stepping foot anywhere near ROA."
yeah, I guess all those other actors in the cast who are extremely talented and who are just as vocally strong as before are just wasting their time in that hit show.
I like Amy but I think the role may have been vocally too much for her.
