I am going as well. Got my ticket for TDF and sad that this will be the last time I get to hear this amazing score live.

Them closing THIS early can be blamed on the producers for not fighting harder: to keep it going, more advertising.
I'll admit, I wasn't in a rush to see this, but I figured I'd have a little more time to catch it.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Don't like going to closing performances so I went last night. What a shame this is closing. Enjoyable night out, outstanding individual performances, and the audience was loving it. Maybe a different marketing approach would have made a difference. We'll never know.
I don't think they ever figured out how to market this show...it's such a unique concept. Main character: static truck. Choreography: not all that much. Great score but nothing the audience will leave having stuck in their heads. Indicative of the problem: the night I saw it, I had a couple from the Houston area next to me. They've been to these competitions themselves. They came because they heard the show was about "Texas". They had no idea what the show was about until it started. But Texas was enough to get them in the door. Sh*t, if they would have marketed the h*ll out of the "this kinda really happened in Texas" angle they probably at least double their first week box office from people like this couple. Such a shame such a talented cast and an underdog show couldn't make it...
I am going tonight as well. I had planned this trip about a month ago and purchased my ticket then. I am glad I made this my Saturday night show and not for next week.
I do feel that marketing was something that was not done right for this show. While I do understand that this could be a tough show to market, I don't think that the producers tried hard enough on this one.
I have said it before on other threads about the show, but I will say it again here. I think that they needed to have an ad or two or an interview with Trey or something in some of the music magazines that cater to the jam band crowd. These are people who love the work of Trey and feel that as far as music is concerned, he can do no wrong and people that will travel in droves to see something he has done. When I have gone to concerts I would mention to someone in passing if they had heard about Hands On A Hardbody, and they would tell me no. I am not saying that them advertising in those kinds of magazines would have saved the show completely. But, at the same time I can't see a situation where it would have totally hurt matters either.

Tom Stoppard's Rock N Roll
Amazing first act. The audience is living every second of it (respectfully, luckily and not the screaming and whistling that's become the norm) and the cast is, o course, brilliant.
Seriously? Move on! This was a misguided piece. There is alway talent involved in the creation of a Broadway musical...this one will go down in my memory as a broadway musical that featured the ridiculous lyrics "Walmart, Walgreens, Mickey D's, Applebees". While I like what the message of that song was, they did it with ZERO subtlety or artistry. I saw a press performance just prior to opening. The HEAVILY comped, industry heavy audience shrank virtually in half after intermission. This never had a chance. Kudos to the producers for the courage to bring in something they believed in, but this was a clunker through and through. The heart was NOT there. On to the next!
Yeah, you're right. Your opinion is the one that really matters. Thank God you posted to let us know how we should really feel about something. See you next Tuesday.
What an amazing night. I hadn't seen it before, so I can't compare the energy in the house to any other performance, but what I felt and saw last night was magic. I had no idea how much it would truly touch me too. I am not usually one to tear up, but I had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye for a lot of the night. I am really looking forward to the recording and so wish this had had a longer life. It is surely a show I won't soon forget.
"Exactly. And you can just continue to hide behind your avatar and poor attempts at wit and snark..."
Hide behind an avatar? That makes no sense. That's like me sayin that you're an Asshole hiding behind a screen name. And you go to bed wishing that you had even the slightest amount of my wit or "snark", you jealous troll. So I think it's time for you to take your own medicine and move on.
