Oh, PrivateUniverse, you make me BLUSH! You were SO super duper fab!
Okay, my take on the evening:
FABULOUS!
Okay. That's it. Naw. PvtUniv left out a little bit but did very well! Michael, Kearran, Aaron and Jenna opened with "Poor Child" from Andrew Lippa's "The Wild Party". So great. Also, besides Scott's Slutty Chorus Boy Song, Jenna Leigh Green did this HILARIOUS song from the show "Plop" that Damon and Scott are writing. It was called something along the lines of "Switching Teams"...some of the lyrics might not be appropriate to even reprint here!!! It's all about a girl that catches her boyfriend with his tongue (amongst other things) in another man's you-know-what! The audience completely lost it during this song. I didn't catch half of the song b/c I was laughing so hard (PLUS that drink I was workin' on helped a bit!). Plus Michael sang a song inspired by a friend of his from Juilliard that was recently murdered. It was incredible. I really wish I could remember all the song, but I was so moved. And during the song, he was looking down at me and smiled. I completely just lost it. LOL.
Alright. I had the bestest night! I got to sit RIGHT in front of the stage...and better yet...Eden fans...I SAT RIGHT NEXT TO EDEN ESPINOSA! *mreow* She was so nice when I got to talk to her after the show. After chatting with her and Kaitlin Hopkins, we left the Pub and were debating whether or not to go to Fez to the after-party. My two friends really wanted to just get home and out of the rain, so we ultimatley went that route, but surprisingly, caught up with Damon for a second outside of the Pub. He remembered us, but was in a hurry, so that was short.
Another highlight of the evening... Max von Essen. Mreow. Looking so hot. I almost just melted right into one of the pools of water at my feet (DAMN RAIN!).
Okay, I don't know if I forgot anything, but if I do, I'll post it!. Great night!

I was most impressed with the two songs from "Easter Rising". The "N & R song" is both sweet and funny at the same time. It sounds like it was written by a veteran; not a 21-year old actor. I loved the song Jenna sang from his show as well. God, this has to be workshopped somewhere!
I concur. Michael has an amazing gift. Not only is he an incredible singer/actor/etc. He has the ability to bring us songs that are both touching and humorous, without losing substance. This guy's going places.
And did I mention he was HOT tonight?! Mreow. I was like inches from him at all times and almost couldn't keep my butt planted in my seat!

LOL! You might have mentioned once or twice that Michael was looking hot tonight! :)
I love his hair. I'm a big fan of the new blond do. And I just loved, loved, LOVED the songs from Easter Rising. God, I can't gete over how talented he is!!
And did I mention the hottitude of John Hill? I did? Oh well, I'm going to mention it again! :)
John during "N&R" was so great! I totally LOVED the scarf! Now I can't get "Here's Where I Stand" out of my head. I was SO giddy when they announced that as the last song, as I had initially recommended it on the You Pick the Songs thread. And I have to say, even tho I initially envisioned it with Sasha, Kearran was INCREDIBLE. Girl's got some PIPES! *whew* Give her more to do come 9/22!

That was the perfect song to end on. Good choice. And didn't you think John and Natalie kicked ass during "Origin of Love"? I requested that song for Michael but John's version was amazing.
It was great to meet you tonight, starlyricist. Wish you could have convinced your friends to go to Fez. Are you going to the second show on the 30th?
In any case, tonight was an absolute blast. Well, when I wasn't kicking myself, but that's a whole other story. Such beautiful voices on all of them, it was especially nice to hear the lesser used performers from the show get a chance to showcase what they can do.
However, the stars still seem to remain Michael, John and Jenna. The more I hear Jenna sing, the more impressed I am by the strength of her voice. I guess she's an actress, because she pulled off that "this was originally from Bare" routine without blinking an eye. That song and Scott's song, alone, was some of the funniest, original material I've heard in forever.
Michael's compositions astound me, given his age. I guess he's what you would classify as a true prodigy. The last song he sang just broke my heart (I'm sorry, I couldn't understand the name of the man who composed it, John something or other).
John and Natalie sounded fantastic on Origins of Love (and Natalie on her solo Christina Aguilera song).
It was well worth the soaking wet, dripping mess I wound up as. I can't wait for the next one!

argh, i'm so jealous, but i'm happy you guys had such a great time!
oh starlyricist, michael must have been amazing, he smiled at you AHHHHHH!!!! and eden is certainly mreow, love her. i HAVE to hear the Easter Rising stuff prvateuniverse is raving about, especially N+R!!
maybe i'll try to beg tickets off some1 for the 30th..hmmm
I am totally impressed by Jenna's voice too Trisky. I don't know why I didn't think she had a good voice when I saw the show but I was very, very wrong.
And greatest line from the "Slutty Chorus Boy" song involved Max Von Esson and swallowing. That's all I'm saying!
Well the show tonight was awesome. Highlights for me:
Scott's "Slut Chorus Boy" song.... sooo funny (and I overheard him at the bar telling someone that he wrote it.... so cute)
Michael & John singing "N & R"... I loved that song so much
John & Natalie singing "Origin of Love"... one of my fav songs which was done so well
Adam singing the Green Day song.... I have never neard him really sing and this was a perfect song for him
The show was wonderful. I actually ended up standing at the bar right by where the entire cast would come to get drinks and watch the other performers onstage which was nice for me... hehe! All in all a great night. I wish I could've stayed for Michael Cerveris's show afterwards. I saw Paul Gemignani going in for the show just as I was coming out.
Also, do you know what they were videotaping the show for? The camera was set up and taped the whole concert. I hope there is some way I will be able to get my hands on that tape.
<....fuming with jealousy.....vicariously living through others...>
So did anyone else go to Fez afterparty and meet the cast?
Trisky, why were you kicking yourself?

Got some of my pics back from last night. They're pretty dark and crappy but I thought you might want to see what they boys looked like from last night. I await Linda's real photos with bated breath. :)
PvtUniverse...you rock! I'm still p'd that I didn't take pictures last night. I totally forgot about the camera in my fag bag until it was too late...and I was in the perfect position for close-ups of Adam, John and Mikey (le swoon).
Okay, now I need tickets to the concert on the 30th...lol

The pictures are up! And there are A LOT of them - rehearsals, the show, and the afterparty!
Let me say this: I ADORE Michael Arden's blond hair now! It has darkened just a bit (due to roots growing out) and is now PERFECT. I always had a thing for blonds.
Could he be any hotter than in the picture above? I'm going gaga!!! Le swoon x 3. That picture is going in the very-best-pictures folder.
As a sidenote, someone named Studiospotter/Matt posted a really interesting (and academic!) analysis of the Queen Mab sequence in BARE. It's on the Barees forum. I suggest you all check it out! (And my reply to it, too!)
