Anyone there tonight in the tour that knows what happened? 15 minutes before intermission, there was crying backstage, and the curtain went down, house lights up, and they had to take a 10 minute break. After the break Nabalungi's understudy took over the role. Anyone know what happened? Hoping all is OK.
Did a Twitter search to see if anyone knew, and found this gem.
"Now I'm going to put on Book Of Mormon and dye laughing".
Yikes. Sounds serious.
Carole Denise Jones went on as Nabulungi; sounds like it was the scene just before "Sal Tlay Ka Siti."
Several tweets. I hope Samantha Ware is ok!

HelloDanny ---
not being a jerk, but just wondering how that pic of snowy downtown Minneapolis gives any update to the situation last night?
Am I not seeing a tweet that is about the incident?
I am in the same situation as jdyre222. I have no idea how that has anything remotely to do with what happened. Honestly.
FWIW, Carole Denise Jones is on again today.

Glad to hear she's fine!

I understand if she feels like she can't finish a show, but why stop the entire production so close to intermission? Couldn't she have pulled through for 15 more minutes? Maybe she felt like she wouldn't be able to sing "Sal Tlay Ka Siti", as that song can be vocally challenging. I think it was very unprofessional on her part.
I think it was more like she was exhausted and simply passed out backstage. kind of hard for an understudy to get dressed & in full make-up in under a minute, hence why the show was stopped.
Something tells me the swing finished the act and not the understudy. But same difference, it'd take more than a minute to be ready to get on stage.
Carole Jones is a swing AND understudies Nabulungi.

Let me get this straight: you have absolutely NO idea what occurred, but you think she was "very unprofessional" to not finish out the act? Actors are humans. They get injured, they get sick. No actor wants to call out of a show, and no actor ever wants to have to bow out mid-show. Odds are, she stopped when she did because she HAD to.
I'd give her the benefit of the doubt until I know otherwise. Before you go around passing judgement, you might want to learn the whole story. That way, you don't look like an ignorant, heartless ass.
Agreed, ghostlight. GingerBread's remarks are infantile.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune has some more information.
“The Book of Mormon,” the blockbuster Broadway musical that is up in Minneapolis for one more week, had an unexpected show-stopper over this weekend.
Near the end of the first act of Saturday’s evening performance at the Orpheum Theatre, the curtain suddenly came down on the action. An announcement was made that there would be a 10-minute delay. When the curtains went up again, 22 minutes later, Samantha Marie Ware (below), who plays the female lead and was to deliver a solo, was no longer onstage.
Her understudy, Carole Denise Jones, had quickly taken over the role of Nabulungi.
Officials from the production issued a brief statement Monday: “The evening performance of ‘The Book of Mormon’ on Saturday, February 9 was held for 22 minutes due to a medical emergency involving a cast member. The cast member has returned to the production and is doing fine.”

Well said Ghostlight! I am always appalled when people do not take into consideration what actors do for a living. Actors are human and from time to time do get fatigued, sick ect ect. Instead of calling said actress unprofessional lets wish for her speedy recovery so she can return to the stage healthy and strong.
I am glad she is feeling better.

I'm glad she's feeling better. I felt so bad for her that my mind was nowhere near thinking that she was "unprofessional" or anything of that nature. Forget the performance, she's still a person.

I did not mean anything judgemental. I understand if there is a true emergency and it would be simply impossible to finish a show, but if she just "feels tired", that really isn't much reason to stop a show. We all have those days where we are not feeling up to it, and this must have been one of those days for her.

What part of "medical emergency" are you not getting? No actor stops a show mid-show simply because they are tired. What did you read that you thought she stopped the show because she was "tired"?
How is it you can't see how saying " I think it was very unprofessional on her part." is judgmental? Dig that hole any deeper and you're never going to get out of it

This gives the impression that she was exhausted and just wanted to stop.
