I hope the production team makes up their mind on who Betty is.
Is she a feminist champion who everyone remembers for playing iconic roles? (No, but that's how multiple characters treat her.)
Is she a retro embarrassment who was repeatedly sexual harassed for laughs? (Sometimes. It's an interesting thread that the book briefly discusses in the second act, then drops.)
Is she someone who wants to leave the confines of the cartoon world to experience human complexity? (Maybe? Though these elements feel ripped from the Barbie movie.)
Pick a story and develop it.

She’s everything. He’s just Dwayne.

And one more thing, while I'm overthinking it.
EDIT: Added spoiler tag.
The directors of her film, in the cartoon world, are revealed to be a gay couple. She tells them she doesn't want to do any more films "where she's chased" by predatory men. So are the gay couple writing these stories? Do gay men have a different relationship to Betty Boop cartoons than the straight world? She's no Judy Garland.

This screams Winter Garden to me, and would line up with a fall/winter BTTF closing date.

Just learned that this show was first announced in 2003, to be written by Jason Robert Brown and David Lindsay-Abaire.
Also interesting that Jasmine Amy Rogers has not been confirmed in the press as the star, yet she and Jerry post on social media as though all has been announced already. Hope this isn't a Rannells situation that will backfire on someone!

I think people are going to be really surprised by how strong and earwormy the score is, and of course Jasmine Amy Rogers is gonna blow people's minds."
Now imagine if in a year already stacked with heavy-duty roles for Lead Actress in a Musical, Rogers winds up sweeping in and taking the Tony for playing Betty Boop.
I don't mean that in a negative way, mind you - I'd love to see something like that happen!

For those who saw it in Chicago, can u tell me what the size of the orchestra was like? Was there a viola?

Didn’t see it, but I know there was an 18-piece orchestra, including a viola.

I'd be shocked if they don't trim the orchestra from what was in Chicago, even if it's just losing 2-4 players. 18 would be the largest orchestra for a proper musical to play the Broadhurst since a pair of Garth Drabinsky musicals in the 1990s: FOSSE (20) and SPIDER WOMAN (22). And Garth was not known for his budget-consciousness.

Don’t they usually upgrade the show for Broadway? Cutting the pit would be sad

It doesn't matter what is "usually" done.
There are no rules.
While it's not as common for a show to downscale for Broadway, every show has a budget and every show has to make compromises. (See also: the PARADE and MATTRESS transfers, which decreased the orchestra)

It's already been reported Boop's capitalization is somewhere around $25mil - it's already a very expensive production.

It’s clear the message these shows are trying to send is FUN. Gatsby is all about “come to the party.” A wonderful world and Tammy Faye and death becomes her are doing similar things.
