BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical - Pre-Broadway Chicago

Tickets for the pre-Broadway run of BOOP! are now on sale and it runs in Chicago from November 19-December 24, 2023.

I wonder why the 6th week was cut. The tryout was originally scheduled to run through December 31.

Can I just say we need to stop the trend of "One Word Title: The *Blank* Musical"

Like maybe if your one word title isn't descriptive or Snappy enough, then it just shouldn't be One Word. 

This is the cringiest and weirdest image I have ever seen. Good Lord.



 

The better business decision would be do this in rep with that Honeymooners musical and tour exclusively nursing homes.

Hope this is a success and all, but "Stand Up and Cheer" or whatever the hell that was about was a boop-boop-a-DON'T.

Oh lord they’re trying to turn Betty Boop into a girlboss.

Well that's budget dependant.

The concept points to the world turning from black & white into color.  

Hairspray, Legally Blonde, On Your Feet, Pretty Woman, etc. Betty Boop doesn’t sound out of place within his stage career. 

I mean, I think Mitchell is perfect for this. It should be FUN. Depends on the  book of course, but I think the team attached is pretty promising. 

Pretty Woman was as good as it could get with a truly awful score. But not sure Mitchell could fix any of that.

Everyone thought a musical based on Orphan Annie was a horrible idea too. 

Jerry Mitchell has also been working on this for quite some time, and none of his past shows have been atrocious, so I’m cautiously optimistic. Pretty Woman wasn’t my favorite, but it was WAY better than shows such as Lightning Thief and Bad Cinderella in my opinion.
