Depending on the next castings after Roger Rees, The Addams Family could keep going.

Addams Family will get a little boost with Brooke in it- but not so much.

I think it'll be between Addams and Priscilla next.

Priscilla has not been able to manage 70% the last 2 weeks,... and it's already summer.

With news of London closing and after the dreadful appearance on the Tony Awards and morning shows.. and misleading commercials. It just doesn't seem like Priscilla is enticing enough to bring the crowds. The Marketing is dead wrong.

It's not a family musical, the gays are over it...
and fans of the movie are generally pissed with it
who else would go and see Priscilla?

Addams or Priscilla?
what's next to go?

I don't think Addams Family will close anytime soon. I looked on ticketmaster.com to see how many seats they have left for tomorrow and it's nearly sold out! Plus with it opening in Brazil (next year),Tour (starting this summer) and in Australia (in 2013) people will think this is the show to see.

Predictions of closings:
Phantom at the end of 2013
Baby It's You at the end of this year
Memphis in the beginning of 2013
Mamma Mia in the middle of 2013 (I have had enough of this show)

Baby its You will be around until the end of the year. They will keep pumping money into it until that time. Addams Family will have the same time frame. And the show is being reviewed again.

I don't see Mama Mia or especially Phantom closing even in 2013, though their time has come. But I think memphis will barely last into 2012.

MOST people do not know (or care) about shows opening in OTHER countries. The average theater goer has NO IDEA about that. Heck, I don't know about when shows open in other countries, because -- well, I'm not there and it won't affect me. I pay a little attention to what goes on in London, as that often affects us here. I don't know, either, that people knowing something is touring makes it seem any hotter of a commodity. Likely, out of towners are more likely to think, "Gee, I can just wait for this to come to my town."

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

The act of going to see Phantom has become synonymous with visiting the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building for a tourist. It's just what you do. Frankly, I think more people would want to see Phantom than visit the Statue of Liberty or go on the CIrcle Line. It's as simple as that.

There is no way that green machine will close any time soon.
It never drops below 95% week after week.

For any first time New York visitor from within the US or around the world...
or any fist timer to a Broadway SHow..

Phantom will be there for them, generation after generation.

you are correct taboo. One wishes that a special theatre could be built for Phantom, on 12th Ave, so that it could play forever

Could Chicago last three years to beat Cats? I'm not wishing the show would close but I was just wondering how much life it has in it.

as long as Barry and Fran are alive and there are tourists from Texas, Chicago will be. Seriously though, it seems to really be showing its age these days, but who knows?

Ok Guys...

I always like this question...not because of any synical nature but because its reality and we can learn from past failures

I can see Baby its you lasting a year plus actually...every time im walking near the broadhurst that show is mobbed and people tend to generally like it...now mind you the people that like it are older baby boomers or out of towners...lets face it most New Yorkers hate it...but its doing well!! So i see a good year plus!

Baby its you has a shot to be like addams family...Addams family feeds off the families and out of towners and school tripers! I think it will last long.

Priscilla on the other hand is not...film fans feel its a disgrace and theatre goers cant get passed the utter tackyness that it is and the out of towners are not to please....lets face it its not a show the high school senior trip will take!

Memphis will have a good healthy run...its entering its second year and I think it has the potential to last 3 years +

Really thought Normal Heart would get an extention though!

Can definatly see Anything Goes extending past January...

Also lets face it Book of Morman aint going anywhere...that has a good 4-5 year run ahead of it...to me its gonna be like billy elliot of jersey boys! there not going anywhere..

Chicago, Phantom, and Mamma Mia are the essential first timer shows so it seems theyll last ages! Especially Phantom...its basically a TOP 10 NY attraction

Still cant get over how badly Wonderland tanked...and I read they are insisting on a tour!? really!??

War Horse doesnt seem to be going anywhere either!

Seems Million Dollar Quartet can get an extra year of life at New World Stages! although 2 years is good for a broadway run!

How about Catch me if you can or How To succeed? whats your guys' take?

I don't think Phantom will be gone for a few years. Just because a theater is at 90% capacity doesn't mean people are paying full price. A lot of people on here don't seem to realise that. I think Phantom has 3 or 4 years left.

Phantom's grosses have been very steady over the years. They are obviously making enough to keep running, and there are no signs of significant drops in the grosses. It has grossed around $42 million the past few years and it has already grossed a little of $22 million this year, so it is on track to make their average yearly gross. As long as these numbers remain steady, there is no reason to expect them to close in a few years.

How long do people think SISTER ACT will be around for?

I love that this has now turned into an opinion based thread of "I don't like a show, so I think it will close."

I think most of the new shows will hold on until after Sept, and then we will see who has the staying power. Sister Act is riding high right now, but it - and Catch Me - weren't fairing so well before the Tonys. We'll see. Sister Act is the better show, but that doesn't mea anything. I'm not sure Catch Me can survive on "Best Actor Winner" for that long.

How To Succeed will play as long as Daniel R. has signed on for. It's been doing steady business since it started, and I'm sure it will be a hit around the holidays. It's a good family-friendly/school show.

couldnt agree more...its not a whether we like it or not...its the staying power...your right though...a real test will be for shows like sister act and catch me if you can...sister act is already planning a tour and its riding high so it has some potential...catch me if you can is hard to tell now...if it can make it past january thats a good sign!
