And all exciting productions!

LCT is announcing what appears to be Sound of Music! I’ve heard rumblings of the two stars, so we will see if those get announced tomorrow too besides the run itself.

Is it Bart Sher directing? If so, I'll schedule my nap now.

I heard it’s Lear. Just as snoozy.

Anyone calling Bart Sher’s treatment of classic musical theatre “snoozy” is so crazy to me. Camelot aside, his revival resume is pretty exceptional.

Jasmine doesn’t have the voice for Maria. Why don’t they just cast Kelli??

I have never loved book scenes in a musical more than in his "My Fair Lady". The scene towards the end where Eliza and Henry are at his mom's house was just top tier acting and blocking by Ambrose, Hadden-Paton and the late Diana Rigg.

Agreed. I have found all of Bart Sher's LCT musical revivals to be absolutely thrilling (I even really liked his Camelot). He knows how to make great use of the Beaumont stage.

Because Kelli is 50 years old, you twit.

To me, Sher's direction of Camelot was certainly elegant and theatrically focused enough. (That moment when Lancelot came over the upstage hill and onto the Beaumont stage was a ravishing entrance.) If he were to be blamed, it should be for not giving that risible book page one notes after its first workshop. Any revision that mocks musical theater itself - and in Aaron Sorkin's iteration Guinevere was allowed to find the title song silly, multiple times - is at cross purposes with itself. A minority opinion: a Sorkin retelling of the Arthurian legend, independent of Alan Jay Lerner's lush romanticism, might've been a helluva play.

Maria can be 50. It was a mistake not casting Kelli in My Fair Lady and it’ll be a mistake here. To say nothing of the fact that Mary Martin was 46 when she played it.

I noticed that Michael Arden has reposted both of LCT's season teaser posts on his Instagram story. Any idea if he's attached to anything in their new season?

Jesus Christ. The character is supposed to be in her early 20’s. Next you’ll be lobbying for Chenowith to play the role.

This is officially the only casting I accept. Can we get Dick Van Dyke as Rolf?

People are speculating Heather Headley as Mother Abbess? Surely this is wrong? Are they going to change that role to be a belter (the opposite of Audra in Gypsy), or can Headley sing operatically? I genuinely would be curious to know
