If true, will Rob McClure take time off from Mrs. Doubtfire to do this, or will David Josefsberg be playing Adam?

I can tell you Sophia is definitely NOT returning (she left the show on awful terms, producers would never have her back). Would be shocked to see Rob return as well as I don’t see him leaving Doubtfire (especially during peak Tony campaign season).
That being said, could definitely see everyone else coming back assuming they haven’t booked another project.

This feels so random, but I enjoyed the show enough to see it one more time and give it a proper Broadway sendoff.

You assume that Doubtfire will still be running when this mythological limited engagement happens.

So did they really drop the "Mrs." from the title?

To my knowledge, the only places still using “Mrs” are the marquee at the Sondheim and in the ticket listings on Telecharge. All their other branding has dropped it. I’m curious how they’ll be promoting it as the return gets closer.

The Broadway in Bryant Park announcement today included the “Mrs.”.
It’ll be pretty amusing if Beetlejuice actually does return after all the pages and pages of posters here saying it won’t.

Bummed to hear that! I would've looked to see Sophia in this. (If it does happen) What awful terms did she leave on? I'm not familiar with this.

She abruptly left the show after a random Wednesday performance last February, leading to Presley Ryan taking over as Lydia full-time and lots of rumors and speculation that she had been fired. The official reason given was that she had used a clause in her contract to pursue TV work, but the lack of any warning (she posted on her Instagram story that the previous night’s performance had been her last) was strange.

I actually thought all this time she DID leave to pursue TV work! I'm surprised to hear this (since I knew she left so abruptly). I hope Presley Ryan returns as Lydia though if this comes true.

Nothing official ever came out aside from the TV work, so I took everything else with a heavy grain of salt but it was a big topic of discussion on this board and over on the Broadway subreddit at the time.

Seeing as Presley Ryan was set to leave the show even before the COVID shutdown, I wonder if they already had another Lydia cast at the time, and whether she or Presley would be the one to return (if either).
Hadn't McClure already left BJ to pursue Doubtfire? Highly unlikely he would go back....unless Doubtfire crashes and burns....but by then, you'd imagine a replacement would already be hired

Yes, David Josefsberg played Adam for the last half of Beetlejuice's run as McClure left in September 2019 to do the out-of-town tryout of Doubtfire in November.

On top of her abrupt departure from the show, she also had a weird performance not too long before when she ran off stage crying mid-song. So it seems like it was only a matter of time for her.
What’s so odd to me is that…TV work didn’t come from her leaving. Granted, COVID-19 hit like a month after she left, but I had assumed she was leaving for another project…I guess she started filming a Netflix film this year? Other than that, nothing. What a weird series of events.

I know they were casting an emergency replacement who was supposed to begin rehearsing right when things closed down. The issue being Presley’s age, apparently. The intention was to recast the role but then COVID….

So it looks like the show is going to reopen at the Marriott and will also be filmed for hbo max, it sounds like casting is in the works but will try and include majority of OBC, I wonder when an announcement will be made
Heard the news about HBO Max and if true? People would LOVE seeing this show, it's so fun and was really popular for a reason.
Even if it never comes to fruition and everything isn't as it seems, I really feel like the Marriott would be a good space for this! Even better if it gets it's long rumored proshot for HBO Max.
Ayanna P. on Twitter is hinting at a show will be announcing they’re reopening soon. I think it’s Beetlejuice

Ayanna P also said we were going to get an A-list cast of Chicago that was going make the show sellout instantly....

Do we think Lydia is set to be recast if so?

I'm kind of rooting for it to come back just for this reason, TBH.

Even if the ticket was free, I would not waste my time sitting though Chicago again.
If the show opened in late 2021 or early 2022, it would be almost 2 years (+/-) since it’s last show in 2020. And, the last time that Presley would have played Lydia. She announced her last show was March 29, 2020. Is it possible that she’s aged out of the role?
